We stayed at the Sea Dreams Hotel in July 2015. It's at the end of the strip and is therefore quieter than some hotels further in are likely to be. This was a positive for us. Because of the distance, from the pier, if you have luggage it's worth considering one of the golf cart taxis which are likely to be on hand as you leave the pier.

The hotel and our room were well kept and clean. The decor and furnishings in our room were modest and despite ours being a small room, the furniture had a sensible layout that didn't clutter the room.

We stayed in room 6 which is one of the Courtyard rooms. Despite having a double bed, for a couple with luggage, it was very much on the small side and is perhaps more appropriate for a solo traveller. On reflection, we perhaps should have opted for a larger room (which was available at the time of booking). However, given we spent little time in our room, this didn't have much impact on our stay. Nonetheless, it's worth considering when deciding on the appropriate room for the number of guests in your party.

The hotel has a small private area for guests on the nearby pier; perfect for relaxing after going in the sea. Above the dining/bar area, there are also hammocks with a view of the nearby beach.

Breakfast was delicious with 2 options every day and it could always be modified, if necessary, for vegetarians. The staff are also very friendly and are more than happy to help and advise on your trip.

As an aside, and a tip for anyone coming to Caye Caulker via Chetumal, Mexico (a popular route for travellers in the region), be cautious when booking the boat to Caye Caulker. We booked the Chetumal to Caye Caulker service with San Pedro Belize Express and paid via PayPal online in advance. However, upon arrival in Chetumal, we were told there wasn't a service running that day. We later found out that the two boat companies operate on alternate days (something the San Pedro Express didn't mention when we booked them).

As an alternative, we took a taxi to the Mexico/Belize border followed by a subsequent taxi to Belize City before taking the boat to Caye Caulker. Alternatively, you can go via Corazal airport and fly to San Pedro before taking the boat to Caye Caulker. The prices are fairly similar depending on what you're able to barter with a taxi driver.

There is also an overnight bus from Cancun to Belize City which is the more prudent option. Not to mention, had we known about it, it would have saved the need for a night's accommodation.

The nearest hotel to the popular swimming area, The Split. The room was very clean and had all I could need. I enjoyed the breakfast each day, and it is always a good sign when the owner also has breakfast there. The staff were very helpful with local knowledge and assisted with reserving my onward travel with a local airline. It was a wonderful stay in a lovely hotel.

We spent three nights here, and it was great. We booked the two bedroom apartment, mostly for the extra space and large sitting area. It was right off the main street, was quiet and the AC was great. The room is right below the breakfast bar so it could be a little loud in the morning from the sounds of people moving chairs around.

Breakfast was great, each morning there were two different options. The breakfast space was beautiful and the food was tasty and cooked to order. The bar had fun cocktails at night. It was great to be able to rent bikes as well. The island isn't very big but there are louder parts of the island. Walking around we saw other places that were on a main street and could be louder. This place was very secluded, and close to the lazy lizard. The dock was one of the best parts. You can see fish in the water, the chair we comfy, and it wasn't ever crowded. Great spot!

We stayed at Sea Dreams on two separate occasions. Once in 2011 and once a couple of months ago. Fantastic both times. The owners and staff are genuinely good, down to earth people. We left to go to San Pedro and came back to Caye Caulker on this last trip and found that Sea Dreams didn't have rooms left. The owner graciously offered us his 1 Bedroom apt. for the same price as the room we were going to rent. Highly recommend Sea Dreams and Caye Caulker. You will be right near my favorite bar in the world, The Lazy Lizard.

After reading a lot of great reviews, decided to stay here before the Raggamuffin 3 day sail. The staff is great and the property is charming. Great location near the Split, but still quiet. The room smelled like cat urine which they were trying to cover up with moth balls. The bed was very hard and it sounded like the frame would give way with each movement. Stay way from room #3 and you will probably be OK.
