This place is just so cool!!!

The waterfalls adventure was one of my favorite things I have ever done in my life! Beautiful, adventurous, sometimes scary but so so thrilling

We did cave tubing too and was great

All the people who work here are so nice and professional.

Great little place we stayed in in the rainforest ! Beautiful!

Do it!

Used Caves Branch as the outpost for our wedding, and the start of our honeymoon. We didn’t get married on-site, but we certainly could have (took plenty of pictures there). The cabins are in the heart of the jungle, was so much different than I’d even imagined! Service was out of this world, staff was SO friendly, and the food was fantastic. They have created such an amazing atmosphere there, it’s a gem of a place that we will remember forever!

Ian Anderson has made certain this resort is ''top notch'' . The choice of adventures on the menu are safe , fun and there is something for every level of fitness . We had the privilege of staying in one of the tree houses high in the jungle canopy . The accommodations were spotless and comfortable . The food was tasty , wholesome and prepared fresh . We chose as our adventures , The Black Hole Drop , Snorkeling , Horseback riding , Trip into town and the 7 mile cave tubing . We will do this trip again . Safe and beyond fun!

Room Tip: choose a tree house if you are sound with walking

Dear liketotravel016,

Having you at Caves Branch was our pleasure and we are so happy that you found our humble lodge to be more then you expected! Instead of it being a privilege to get one of the Treehouse Units, it was in turn our privilege to be your hosts and do our best to make your stay remarkable and comfortable.
As mentioned, there is indeed- something for everyone and we are so happy that you found the activities that fit your perfect level of physical activity- which by the way, seem that you did some pretty exciting stuff!

Thank you so much for your kind review and we definitely look forward to your return visit (sooner rather than later of course). All the best to you and your family from the entire team at Caves Branch!

We just returned from a 7 night trip to Belize, of which 4 were at Caves Branch. I was travelling with my 11 year old son. Everything everyone has written is pretty much spot-on, so I won't duplicate, except to say that it was really a fabulous experience and I highly recommend.

A few comments which aren't criticisms, but just thoughts:

- It's a great place to go if you're travelling alone with your kid/s. It's a self-select of the type of people who are here, so everyone is very friendly. And because you sit communal style at meals, you get to meet a lot of people. Plus, because it's a common experience among everyone (everyone eats together, goes on excursion, comes back and hangs out at the pool) it's very easy to chat and connect. But if you don't want to talk to anyone besides your family--it's probably not the best place for you.

- When we were there, it was at full capacity It literally doubled overnight due to the mid-winter break for east and west coast schools. I think they handled the capacity fine. But I did sense that they were getting a little stressed when going around for the excursions at night. Not a big deal--but just mentioning.

- We didn't get to do the full cave tubing experience, which was a little bit of a bummer. We were discouraged a bit (as were other people with kids) by the staff given they are worried kids will get tired and the water was at full level. Totally understand that and appreciate that safety is first. But I would have liked the option of paying extra for our own guide. Because I had to pay for my son as an adult--I think my bill was close to 1900, So paying an extra 100 wouldn't have bothered me . I realize that could get tricky.

- The shorter cave tubing (River expedition) was really fun, but its not that much tubing (hence my comment above), so just be aware.

- The food was great as were the accommodations and I LOVED no wifi. Again, if this will drive you crazy-not the best place for you.

- We wound up doing our second excursion at the zoo and zipline. At the zoo, we did the jaguar encounter--definitely do it if you go to the zoo! Was really fun.

Finally, we stayed in the jungle suite which was great for us--but after seeing the treehouse I would say definitely pay more if you can afford to. It was amazing (although you are really barely in your room given the timing of dinner at 6).

One last tip, nothing to do with hotel but impacted several of us there. Belize is the only (or maybe one of the few) countries that requires a parent to have a notarized letter if you are not travelling with the other parents. Several of us hadn't realized that and had sagas the day before or at the airport. Nothing to do with the hotel, but wanted to make sure folks knew.
.
Again-definitely go to Caves Branch! You'll love it.

HI blk1_12,

THANK YOU THANK YOU for your indepth review of your stay with us at Caves Branch. Happy to quickly address a few of your valuable points:

Cave Tubing - keep in mind that we offer two distinct and different Cave Tubing Adventures. The River of Caves 7 Mile Float is seasonal (not available during the dry months of Feb to June when the river goes dry). This tour is also very long and tedious for younger children, no matter how many guides are sent. Its a long length of time to be sitting in a tube even for adults and we normally discourage parents with younger kids from this adventure and suggest our second Cave Tubing trip which is River Cave Expedition. This last cave tubing trip is a combination of cave tubing and hiking inside one cave and is way more educational and interesting for families with kids. So instead of watching the inside of dark caves that you do not get to explore for 7 whole miles, we recommend the River Cave in these cases.

YES, WIFI is turned off during meal times. In the age of electronics taking over our daily lives (yes here in Belize too, it is an opportunity to live in the moment, disconnect and enjoy your family time, your meal and your surroundings for just a bit.

Lastly, Belize is not the only country that requires parent- authorization letters. Have a look at the following link: https://tinyurl.com/yc9z3vwe. The UK and other countries in Europe also have different rules: Bear in mind that, even where a country does not require minors to carry such an authorisation to leave or enter its territory, other countries they transit through may still ask them to show one. https://tinyurl.com/ya78aqk6

It is always the idea to research BEFORE your travel to ensure that the country you are visiting does not have rules that you are not aware of. We have now added the item to our email signatures and ALL other confirmation correspondence to guests, to ensure that everyone parents are aware of the rules.

Again, thank you so much for your review and we do look forward to your return visit!

My wife and I have been spending the past few weeks in Belize and decided to do a few excursions at this location and decided since we were that we would spend a night there as well. (I'll comment on the excursions in a separate review of things to do). We were so happy we decided to spend an evening at this lodge ... the people are friendly and engaging, the facility is really well kept, and the quality of the rooms is exceptional. We stayed in one of the jungle cabanas and it was awesome ... the bed and bedding comfortable and the ceiling fan provided a wonderful cool breeze. At night it is pitch black and you get to hear the jungle alive at night which is a really cool experience! The shower had lots of hot water and the hammock on our deck provided a place to relax and watch the birds flying around. The pool was clean ... the hot tub was warm and enjoyable while looking up at the stars! Sitting by the river for a few minutes was really awesome and the botanical garden was super impressive. The meals were buffet style which was great and the options varied but everything we had was outstanding (3 course meal at dinner and full breakfast.). The bartender (Edward) was very engaging and taught us alot about the different rums available ... we also wanted to recognize Dorey who was very helpful during our stay. We have to say that overall we had a really enjoyable experience here and would love to go back and spend more time here next time we visit Belize. We also purchased some cheese made at the lodge when we were departing and can't wait to enjoy that at our next stop! The highlight of our stay at he lodge was the adventure tours however ... you can check out my feedback on those under a separate review for the Ian Anderson's Caves Branch Adventures Tours! Congrats to Ian Anderson and his team for creating a very impressive operation and one well worth visiting if you ever get to Belize!
