This hotel is just a basic, average place. The bed was comfortable but otherwise, I'm a bit flummoxed by all the five-star reviews. I had a very mixed experience from the staff. Check-in was rude, that's all there was to it. We were refused a checkin a moment before 3pm, which, alright i get it. but it was not done in a friendly way. And when we return at 2:30, another staff member is checking other guests in. The rooms are very basic; there was not even a coffeemaker or tea kettle. There was a TV but no clock, there are not bidets as claimed, and the battery on our room lock was out, so we had to deal with a hassle during our short stay.
The area felt safe and there are some nice little places to eat, but not much is happening. The gate/security guard are fine, but I'm not used to someone having to race over and let me in and out everytime I enter and exit a place, and I didn't really like it.
My husband said his breakfast was 'ok.'
I'd try another place on a return trip, but that said, if I go back to Guatemala I'm not staying in Guatemala City, where I didn't feel there was a lot to do.
