We were here for 2 nights. The place is filled with folkart and paintings, ceramic planters, birds, great gardens.... visual overload but loved it. Beds were okay at best and food buffet was good. I found the restaurant staff accommodating. However...we made reservations to take a boat across the lake and were quoted a price for 3 hours. When we went to get the ticket to board the boat, we were told the pricing was wrong and it would now be twenty dollars more. I tried to make my point you can't just change the pricing agreed upon earlier. But I got nowhere and since we had a commitment to meet someone across the lake, we had to take the boat. When my husband went to pay the hotel...they had tacked on a tip that was not told to us beforehand either. So our $75 boat ride ended up costing $110. Sorry we just didn't go to the Panajachel dock and and negotiate there. Also you should know to get to town you must take a tuktuk...no taxis. We wanted to go to Pana later in the day but knew it would be very dangerous taking a tuktuk in the dark as we had done a day trip the day prior and knew the dangers of the curvy road.

Thank you for your comments and to share part of your experience with us.

About the boat, we have in two points at the reception, the prices according different kind of tours the people want, and is the same information we transfer to our clients. We will reconfirm with our personnel that they have the same information.
Concerning the cost you mentioned of US$75.00 is visiting one village, but if finally was charged US$110.00 was because you visited two villages and they just charge to you only the 50% for the second village, instead the regular cost.

We are convinced that your comments make us better, and permit to us to correct all the necessary in our process to keep giving good service.

Thank you again, and best regards.

The hotel property is beautiful. The gardens are gorgeous and you can see many exotic birds and flowers. Pool and infinity hot tub are great. Rooms are nice size but the beds are the most uncomfortable I have ever been in. I still have a back ache and sore neck from 2 nights on that mattress. The hotel has a sign in the lobby , no food or drink from outside vendors allowed, so if you think you can bring in a bottle white wine and go to thr bar for ice.....forget about it. The bartender flatly refused to give us ice. I have never been denied such a simple request in all my years of traveling. He even lied and said they have no ice. one positive thing, they do have more TV channels in English than the other hotels in Guatemala that we visited. The gift shop is wildly overprice, we found some of the exact items for half the price in town. The restaurant does not open until 7 am but they have a filthy pot of coffee by the pool if you dare chance drinking it. All in all, I would have rather have stayed somewhere else and driven over to see the gardens.

Room Tip: All rooms have garden views but no elevators

Amazing views of the lake and the volcanos, OMG the food!, great service, beautiful gardens and again... the food! The best I tried from around. We had a very good experience. The rooms are ok, could be better, but not that bad neither. TV with all types of channels. The staff is bilingual.

To begin with, we visited Easter weekend, so our experience may not be remotely representative of the other 51 weeks of the year. The grounds are outstanding, with lots of nice plants. There are macaws that are out and about in the morning, around 8 or so. The views of the volcanoes across the lake are great. Be aware that to view these, however, you should be on the eastern side of the building. The building has basically three connected wings, but the western wing faces more east than north, and so the views across the lake are not there. Instead, you look at the harbor of Panajachel, which in our case was a massive concert venue that was playing electronic dance music until after midnight. This was not the peaceful, serene place we were expecting, unfortunately. It was quieter in the bar, and the bar was very nice, and the views from there - particularly if you were at one of the tables by the window, looking out at the pool and the lake - were much better than from our room.

All in all, we liked the area, liked the lake, but the hotel itself was too loud from the surrounding music, one a few hundred yards away, and another literally next door. And when we asked the front desk when the music would stop, they just shrugged their shoulders. Admittedly, there wasn't anything they could do, but the lack of empathy was frustrating.

If being close to the action is your thing, then this place would be great. If you want some more peace and quiet, but still with the great views, I'd look at some of the places further west on the north shore of the lake, like Casa Prana or Casa del Mundo, both of which looked excellent to us from our boat on the lake.

Thank you for each of your comments you share with us.
Certainly on this time of the year, being a tourist destination, the big companies organize concert music around the lake, and Panajachel was not the exception.

We apologize for the indifference of our personnel, we will correct this immediately, because we are a service company, and this has to be reflected all the time to our clients.

If you decide to come back, we promise work hard to exceed your expectations.

Have I mentioned the fantastically beautiful setting? My wife and I spent two nights at Hotel Atitlan as the final stop in a Caravan Guatemala tour. What a great finish! A luxurious hotel setting, well-decorated, with beautiful gardens to wander on leisurely, peaceful strolls, and a view to beat all views - Lake Atitlan backed by three beautiful volcanic cones along the distant shore. We enjoyed every relaxing minute of our stay at the hotel - comfortable, quiet room, good food and drink, those strolls. Hard to beat!
