Room was quaint. (We would have loved to have a coffee maker or teapot in the room.) Most staff were very friendly. The museo on the grounds is very interesting. Convenient to walking along the lake and many, many vendors.

Our friends gave us a gift of two nights at Posada del Don Rodrigo and we were very excited to stay there. Unfortunately, our excitement was short- lived. We didn't get one of the lake-view rooms. Our room was spacious and clean and well appointed, but it was very dark and felt like a cave. Also, the water was only lukewarm and there was no wifi. Plus, the buzzing mosquitos were annoying at night. Both mornings we were awakened between 6 and 7 by staff slamming nearby doors. We couldn't discuss these issues with the reception guy because he spoke no English. We could get wifi in the restaurant, but prices there were very expensive by Pana standards. Also, the ugly water slide in the pool completely blocked any views of the lake and volcanoes from the restaurant. On the positive side, the grounds were beautiful and well-manicured, and employees were all very pleasant.

Bottom line: We wouldn't return, especially given that this is one of the most expensive options.

This hotel has lovely, extensive grounds with a beautiful view of Lake Atitlan. The rooms are clean, quiet, roomy and quaint. Ours had a lovely fireplace. The breakfasts were large and very tasty, with a nice choice. Don't miss the view from the upper terrace on top of the restaurant.

We stayed here for 3 nights in late December 2016 as part of a trip around Guatemala and Costa Rica.
The level of accommodation (we were in the 'non-luxury' rooms)seemed fine to us.
We'd paid Bed and Breakfast and ate our other meals out - so didn't really get an impression of expense regarding meals etc.
The location is fine - at the lake-side end of the main street no significant noise problems that we noticed, very pleasant gardens and a view of the Lake from some areas. The place has a decent swimming pool and a great little sauna which comes free (you book it by the hour in advance).
Reception staff were efficient, obliging and friendly. We received a lot of well mannered, warm and friendly service in Guatemala, Belize and Costa Rica. Rigoberto, our usual breakfast waiter at this hotel, was an outstanding example of this. Ola Rigoberto!
