We took our 8year old granddaughter and all three of us loved it. Took the 11am tour and packed a picnic lunch to eat afterwards. Perfect plan. She described it as a zoo in the woods. All cages in close proximity to each other and close up to the animals. Plan to spend 2plus hours and enjoy!

I have been here with my 9 year old niece several times. We both love it! I am excited to bring my younger niece in the future.

We took our 4 grandkids, ages 8 - 12, and we all loved it. Sanctuary is more of a "retirement home" for animals, so it is a quiet experience instead of the high energy/activity level at a zoo. It was also interesting to read the stories of where the animals came from and how Black Pine has provided a safe place for them to live out their lives. Some animals came from very abused situations. We were able to get one of the larger birds to talk back to us and laugh, which really excited our kids. Web site offers much information, but not the easiest to navigate. Also they don't list their hours. A phone call quickly answered that question for us. Staff said they don't list hours as they sometimes have to be closed to the public unexpectedly, and they don't want visitors to arrive only to find them closed. Highly recommend Black Pine Animal Sanctuary to anyone who enjoys animals in a "natural" environment. You are much closer to the animals at BP than you are at a zoo.

First time here. Can't wait to return. I took the guided tour and the feeding tour. In between I had over two hours to go back and check out the animals on my own. The entire location is clean, well organized, nice black top walkways and most of the animals were only about 3 feet away from you. I had such a good time and learned a lot.
