It is a nice garden It is definitely interested in revenue. They have weddings there, they have a unique gift shop, and a snack shop. We went in the beginning of November when the leaves were at the end of turning. It was beautiful. The garden is medium sized. They are adding another section that should open in 2018. There was not much to see in the way of flowering plants in November but it was still beautiful. The sculptures that were on display were recycled items. They were quite creative including a polar bear, a shark, a penguin, and hanging jelly fish. They also have a floor chime which one can stand on and create music. They have a children's section which at the time we were there has a cute sculptured scare crow. There also a huge gnome in the garden which they claim is the largest in the world. Inside there is a butterfly garden that is regulated by the FDA. The area is not large but it has a lot of butterflies. You have to be let in by an attendant and you have to inspect yourself in a mirror before leaving. The garden would get in serious trouble from the FDA if a butterfly escaped. There is also another are which again which has tropical plants.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a thorough and thoughtful review of Reiman Gardens. I'm pleased to hear that you enjoyed your visit while here including our traveling exhibit, Washed Ashore, featuring sculptures created from trash pulled from the ocean. I hope you'll consider a return visit in the future as things change annually based on a theme. All of the plantings as well as the sculpture exhibit are new each year.

This is a lovely garden with rotating statue displays and a butterfly room. The only downside is that it is not free. However ISU students (the local university) can get in free.

Thank you for leaving a review of Reiman Gardens. We rely heavily on our admission dollars to provide many of the best features of the Gardens like the butterflies, plant displays, and our sculpture exhibits. So without charging admission, we would not be the same caliber garden we are right now. It's very common for public gardens across the country to charge some kind of admission fee to visitors.

We stopped by on a whim while visiting our daughter at ISU, not really expecting anything. The gardens were fantastic. We definitely would like to go back again when all the outdoor flowers are in bloom. We started out in the butterfly garden. It was morning, and all the butterflies were very active. From there we checked out the indoor exhibits - we loved the Washed Ashore sculptures made of beach trash, with sculptures placed throughout the garden, inside and out. The trees were in full fall color, making for a gorgeous stroll, and the Halloween pumpkins were out. Don’t skip this if you are in Ames!

I'm so glad to hear that you stopped at Reiman Gardens during your trip to ISU and enjoyed your visit. I do hope you'll make a return visit as things change annually all based on a theme. In 2018, for instance, everything will be inspired by our theme of Movement, including the sculpture exhibit, which will be kinetic sculptures that move in the wind.

We visited here on one trip back when the flowers where in full bloom. The picture on this site is exactly what we had the opportunity to witness. Nice volunteer staff to help with explanations and information. Guided walking tour info as you stroll through the gardens. Put it on your list for a visit for sure.

Just came back from visiting this wonderful garden. On display was recycled trash from the ocean exhibit. The kids seemed to enjoy that. I’m a garden, tree and nature buff so I very much enjoyed the entire garden. The butterfly exhibit was a bonus and didn’t know they had one. We will surely come back again!
