We stayed here for the beginning of an Intrepid Travel tour.

This hotel looks modern from the outside and is conveniently situated right across the square from the Casa Voyageurs train station. However, don't let this fool you. The rooms are outdated and ours had the most awful smells. Right when we walked in the room, we were hit with the smell of smoke. That smell persisted throughout our 2 days/nights in the hotel. To add to that, the bathroom intermittently but frequently had a sewage smell that actually caused a headache. When I opened the window to try to get some fresh air, all you can hear are the constant honking sounds from the cars around the square- it is unreal. It does finally quiet down later in the evening, so sleeping was ok. Breakfast was limited to boiled eggs, bread and pastries. Not much around the hotel in terms of restaurants/shops. Quite far from the Hassan Mosque, which is the main sight in Casablanca. I would definitely look elsewhere in the city for a place to stay.

Room Tip: As high as possible to avoid the honking noise

The hotel is close to the tram which was convenient to get away because we could not find any good food around the hotel. The breakfast today was bad it started with cold left over vegetables and no eggs of any kind no yogurt and the soup was also left over. The hotel and staff were good but food was not.

The Hotel Al Walid is conveniently located near the Casa Voyageur train station. Hotel staff are friendly. Rooms are clean and comfortable. You can walk to the Old Medina within 30 minutes and the Mohammed V mosque within 60 minutes. The hotel is also beside an LRT line that travels to the Old Medina.

You’ve heard of “cheap and cheerful “ but this is “cheap and chintzy”. Small clean room but one tiny bottle of water for 2 persons ONCE in 4 days. One hairdryer for the entire hotel and if someone else has it, you will never see it in 4 days. Absolutely no writing paper or a pen. No city maps. No facial tissues. Only one drinking glass per room for 2 persons. Most of the reception staff have forgotten how to smile, and that doesn’t cost anything. Small restaurant in hotel but if you are looking for variety, there are absolutely no restaurants anywhere nearby. Location is 5 tram stops from downtown, not the greatest. You cannot easily walk to where the action is.
If “absolute bare minimum “ is acceptable to you, then this hotel is clean and will suffice, but be prepared for total minimum without a smile.
Good for one night “sleep and go”, but not more.

This hotel is conveniently located in the place de la gare de Casablanca. I needed to leave my luggage for a couple of hours and was charged an abusive and incredible price of 100 dirrhams. I agreed to pay because I had little time but, still, I think it is dishonest and unfrair what the hotel charges, taking advantage of needed travellers. Shame on you.
