A delightful and restful break in beautiful surroundings. We had the large double room and it was magnificent. The views from the roof over the city and beyond are fantastic and its a lovely place to relax and watch birds circling in the evenings. The hospitality is warm and helpful. Thank you, we will come again.

Room Tip: For couples the large room at the top is magical.

Dar Drissi was a beautiful and comfortable riad. It really surprised us when we got there. I guess we expected a fairly austere riad like many of our others we had been to, but we were very pleased when we got there. It's over 300 years old, very elegant and beautiful. Much of it is original (restored). Modern, western facilities, very quiet - off the beaten path. We felt secure and safe and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. We added an extra day because we were enjoying the comfort so much. I highly recommend it. If and when I return to Morocco, I will definitely stay at Dar Drissi in Fez.

Room Tip: The two salons are the best, especially if you are travelling with groups.

We had a lovely 4 day stay in Dar Drissi . The manager could not do enough to help you and was very happy to arrange visits and transfers. House restored to it original beauty and the roof terrace a bonus. Will visit again very soon

We arrived on the train from Tangier and were met by a driver and taken to meet the manager Kibir at the nearest place vehicles can get to the Dar. It's about a 10 minute walk to Dar Drissi, the final stretch through what appears to be an impossibly narrow passage! But then you pass through the small front door into a huge living space with classic Moroccan tiling and fountain. On the first night we had ordered the in-house meal cooked by the maid and her friend, and served by Kibir. It was the best meal we had during our week in Morocco, so don't miss this. We were there 4 nights which is probably the right length of time if you want to see the main sights of the city, but not enough if you want to visit the surrounding sights (next time!). We stayed in the Courtyard Salon which was massive (although the Grand Salon is even bigger). But be aware that the other two rooms are quite small in comparison. Kibir served a simple but sustaining breakfast including boiled eggs. He was gracious and helpful, without being intrusive. You have access to the small kitchen, which is useful for the occasional bread and cheese meal. Although it is cool in January, we had a heater in our room, which made it comfortable. The roof terrace has great views over the medina. We recommend the Dar Hatim restaurant and the guide Farida. Kibir arranged both of these for us.

Dar Drissi is situated in the heart of the medina. Inside it is a haven of tranquility. The house is magnificent. I especially enjoyed the roof area with its views over the Atlas mountains.
The manager is called Kibir. He arranged all our visits and transfers. We were made very welcome. One of the kitchens in the house is for guest use. This was good for making snacks and the use of the fridge was great. The maid, given some notice, will cook a meal in the evening. We didn't do this but from what other guests said it sounded delicious. Next time!

Nick

Room Tip: As in all moroccan houses the lower down you are in the house the cooler it is.
