Owner description: The riad-museum Le Jardin Secret is one of the largest and most ancient palaces of the medina of Marrakech. It is a place that has kept ancient structures intact that are of an extraordinary cultural value, linked to the art of gardens, architecture and Arab hydraulics. Popularly known as Riad Loukrissi, it has been the sumptuous residence of the Qaid U-Bihi who was the head of the Haha tribe. The riad rises up in the Mouassine quarter (on the main thoroughfare and but a few steps away from the Mouassine fountain and Mouassine Mosque), and comprises two large gardens and one of the highest towers of the medina. The museum provides you with a wealth of historical information about Marrakech's architecture, water, and gardens. You will also find a boutique, a bookshop and two cafes inside Le Jardin Secret. The cafes offer you up fresh, homemade products that you can eat in lush and peaceful settings.
Useful Information: Wheelchair access, Bathroom facilities, Food available for purchase, Baby buggy parking, Lockers / storage

So nice, peaceful and quiet. For 80 dirhams you get to see the garden and climb a tower from where you see whole Marrakech and Atlas Mountains. There weren't so many people in the afternoon. You can watch two movies, one about making of the garden and one about their watering system. Don't miss it!

We really liked this. You have to do a bit of navigation through the medina to get to it, but if you have a good map, it shouldn't be too difficult. There is a great view of the medina from the top of the tower. Don't miss the exhibit room that documents the restoration of the riad and the secret garden.

So pleased to have found this! What a beautiful and calming space - two contratsing gardens, one "hot" (mostly cacti and succulens) and one cool (mostly grasses and lavender) and both stunning! We spent all morning here sitting and then sitting and some more sitting, walking up to the top of the tower, having lunch and sitting a bit more ... So relaxing : )

A surprisingly peaceful and relaxing experience in the heart of Marrakech. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in need of a rest after navigating the busy souks.

Once you’re inside all of the sounds of the city are replaced by trickling water and birdsong. The garden is full of colourful plants and architecture. There’s also a cafe inside which overlooks the gardens from a roof terrace.

Also, we took a left on the way out of the garden and found a much calmer network of souks. We were barely hassled and saw the locals crafting some of their goods.

This little place is easily missed amongst the hussle and bussle of the market, but it is worth seeking out for the views and the peace and quiet with such a beautiful garden.
