I have been to Marrakech numerous times and I have to say Riad ZamZam is one of the best Riads I have every stayed in.

The staff are efficient, friendly and extremely accomodating at all times and made you feel like you were at home!

The rooms are luxurious, comfortable and amazingly good value for money.
I will definately be back!

You'd expect Marrakech to be exotic - it is. You'd expect the souks to be bewildering - they are. You'd expect the old Medina to be a maze - it is, but you might not expect that behind an anonymous door in a dark narrow alley in the depths of that maze you would find a delightful oasis of peace and good service - we did! Great relaxing and welcoming place to stay right in the middle of the rush and confusion of the winding backstreets of the North Medina. A very small place - but a striking airy courtyard and good roof terrace. Be brave. When you first arrive the temptation will be to fear you are being drawn into a mysterious backstreet trap - you aren't. Of course many locals want your money, but they want to earn it though service or goods sold to you, in our experience, not through menaces. When you are there, make sure you have the Riad's telephone number on your mobile so you can get staff to come out to meet you when you return to the area from your excursions or get your taxi to call them. They always came out to meet us whatever the time and that was reassuring. We would go back - but would hope for hotter weather to go with the warm welcome.

Zamzam is as beautiful as all the photos suggest. A real oasis in the Medina mayhem. However, the staff are what really set this place apart (thank you Imane, Faisal, Aziz, and all the other lovely staff.). Imane's background info on the first day was spot on, in terms of where to go, where to eat, what to see, what we should expect etc. I think we were impressed with every one of her suggestions. Faisal always seemed to be on hand to help. And Aziz seemed almost literally a godsend when we got lost trying to find our way back the first evening - having trailed through Dante's Inferno (the metalworking area!), we bumped into him just as we were about to make another wrong turn.

Food was another delight at Zamzam. The breakfast included, which we took on the lovely sun terrace each morning overlooking the Atlas mountains, was a delicious, nutritious start to the day. However, the dinner and lunch we had on one occasion each were both among the best food we had in Marrakech, if not the best. We also had a scrumptious red wine with the dinner, although I think the lunch was slightly better value.

Two small quibbles, which certainly wouldn't put us off staying again, and probably apply to many Riads. Firstly, the nature of the building means that sounds travels quite easily, so occasionally our sleep was disturbed. Secondly, the location at the north of the Medina is a little bit out of the way, not directly accessible by taxi. However, once you get used to the short walk through the alleys to transportation, this is not a big problem.

The riad has been beautifully restored with meticulous attention to detail. Rooms were stylishly decorated and very comfortable. Staff were warm and attentive and the food was excellent. The best place i've stayed in marrakech.

Zamzam is a place like no other! My partner and I travel all over the world and I must say, this place is a gem! The owner, Emma, is wonderful and her assistant, Faysal, is so helpful and accomodating. It is clean, safe, beautiful and gay friendly. We would highly recommend Zamzam and can't wait to come back!
