This riad is a haven of peace and tranquillity, amid the hustle, bustle and madness outside in Marrakesh, that is every day life for the wonderful people of this exciting city.
We stayed as a couple in a basic, clean, traditional and quirky room, makes such a change from the bland hotels.
Chaouqi, the manager, Hallile (forgive my spelling), and the lovely lady who works there too are fabulous and fun hosts.
For a taste of real Moroccan food, we ate in the riad on two nights, the food was great, fresh ingredients, slow cooked in traditional clay pots, fabulous flavours and at 15 euros each for 3 courses, you have to do it at least once, because the tagines in the tourist restaurants are pressure cooked, not slow cooked to develop that great Moroccan flavour.
The terrace is a great sun trap, and the bonus was seeing the Atlas mountains, covered in snow, whilst sun bathing!
Any trips or excursions you want to make, book through the riad, Chaouqi will get you a much better deal than anywhere else.
We hope to return, we need some more bargains from the souks!More
