On arrival at this riad. We were welcomed by the wonderful Halila. (sorry for spelling.)This guy made our stay at this riad so special.. Although a bit of a mix up initially and after checking in we were told we would be staying in another riad a few doors away. So for first 2 days we were looked after by Abdul. At the Mawar ....Who’s breakfasts were brilliant
We moved back to Riad plein sud for the rest of the holiday.
Our room was quite small but perfectly adequate for our needs. This beautiful little oasis of a Moroccan hotel with a very pretty court yard and little plunge pool. The riad also has a roof terrace which was lovely to sit and enjoy a book after the dust and heat of the souks.
The manager Chaouqi was fabulous and of course the wonderful Halila. Chaouqi arranged all our trips for us and gave us great advice on how to keep safe and how not to get ripped off in the souks. He even gave us his number and said if we got lost he would come get us. (We didn’t need it but another couple who were staying at the same riad did get lost and Chaouqi true to his word went to get them)
After the first day we felt safe and confident finding our way around the souks and the square. Even bartering and in some cases winning
We booked half board and so pleased we had especially after a long hot day exploring. It was lovely to go back shower and enjoy the delicious home cooked meals served with joy and humour every evening by the brilliant Halila.
Breakfast was simple but very satisfying. Fresh orange juice, pancakes, fresh bread, jams, cakes and delicious coffee. Prepared and served by Raja. Who I think also prepared the wonderful tagines we enjoyed so much in the evenings.
We visited Ozudea waterfalls and absolute must. Our guide Azzouz was brilliant. He was so knowledgable and made sure we saw and experienced every last bit including feeding the monkeys Wonderful.
Our other trip to the Ourika valley again our wonderful guide Mohammed made sure we saw and experienced everything including breakfast in a Berber house where the lady of the house made us breakfast of bread, butter, oil and mint tea. Beware this trip includes a massive hike to the top of the waterfall and it very strenuous. Was a lot tougher than I was lead to believe. So wear good shoes and be prepared to climb. Worth the hard work though.
We had the most amazing trip to marrakech and are so pleased with our choice of riad. If we every get the chance to visit Marrakeck again we will chose the Plein sud in a breath.
