To be perfectly honest, I would not recommend a visit with a child. There is so much going on and there are so many motorcycles driving without care. It is stressful for grownups never mind children. Apart from that, it is definitely an experience. A lot of food that we were advices not to try because of the water and a lot of people and animals/snakes. There is also a lot of not marked police, so very little to non pickpockets. We felt safe.

Within walking distance of most of the principal hotels, the Medina is one of the prime Tourist destinations in Marrakech. What I enjoy about it is that it is also the living heart of the city with people going about their shopping as they have forever.

No one can come to Marrakech without going into the Souk surely, it is the heart of the city. We were last here about 10 years ago and it seems to have grown, some areas spruced up a but and you don’t get hassled as much as you used to. Yes they call out to you to go and have a look but a shake of the head or a smiled ‘no’ and you pass by. If you want something Moroccan, then this is the place to go as the choice is immense but try to make sure you actually buy something that was made in Morocco. There are even toilets in there. but I can't remember exactly where, neither did I go in so am unable to recommend or not.

An amazing area of diverse traditional market stalls of crafts and tourist souvenirs. Leatherwork, basket work, ceramics, glass, fabrics, metalwork, herbs, olis and so much more! Beware the offers of help - some will be sincere, some will come at a price! There may be some order and arrangement to the area but it was not obvious to us! If or when you feel lost just ask for directions back to the square - you won't really be far from it!
