Dar Mouassine is a Riad in the old Medina in which we stayed for 3 nights.

Positives:
* generally excellent standards
* friendly staff, with good knowledge what things really cost ! (taxi etc)
* good location in the old Medina
* high quality portioned breakfast (not a buffet)

Negatives:
It is difficult to find faults as it is an excellent Riad, but to keep it fair:
* for some reason our prepaid booking did not show up in the booking system after arriving one day late. Got a room nevertheless, will double confirm next time with a call.
* First signs of small(!) wear and tear are beginning to show on several places
* We did not like the fact that our bathroom felt like an open space with our bedroom (from a positive view a smaller room was made feel more spacious). Next time we will book a larger room if possible.

Summary:
You can't really fault this place. Great stay. Can highly recommend. I was told they have been running this for 4 years only which make the standard even more impressive. Keep it up !

Room Tip: * Ask for one of the bigger rooms.

Riad Dar Mouassine was a lovely riad boasting a beautiful roof top garden with plenty of little spots for sitting and relaxing and sunbathing if you like. Also a nice little plunge pool to cool off in.

The day starts with a nice breakfast served on the rooftop terrace by a lovely lady, sorry I forget her name but she is more than welcoming and is happy to help you with any questions about marrakech and sights and tours.

The room we stayed in was on the ground floor and was spacious and elegantly decorated in traditional riad style.

Great location too with an easy 15 min walk to the main square through the covered
markets and souks, a great place to stay, would highly recommend!

A really wonderful place, full of character and charm. It's a little hard to find at first, but soon you will relish the experience of staying in the heart of the medina in a surprisingly calm and quiet oasis. We arrived late in the evening and were met at the door by Abdou, who, with Fatima, looked after us well and with perfectly hospitality throughout our stay. Rooftop breakfasts were a delight, and the riad as a whole is stuffed with attractive local furniture and immensely attractive architectural features, starting with the gorgeous Moroccan patio courtyard. Our room - Cardamone - had a first-class painted ceiling and stucco work. Ideal for a fantasy escape from the world, apart perhaps from the steep climb to the loo, which is upstairs with two wardrobes (a true 'water closet'...). All in all, highly recommended for those who want the medina experience - and especially if you wish to be close to the throbbing Jemma al Fnaa.

Room Tip: Cardamone was wonderful, though there are steep steps to the WC.

A friend of mine booked this riad on the recommendation of a mutual friend. This was my first visit to Morocco and it started off with the discovery I had left my wallet with money and credit cards in France. Awkward, arriving thus at midnight. Luckily, we had arranged with Dar Mouassine to be picked up and then escourted through the medina. If you haven't been to Marakech arriving at night is not a good idea without a guide. It can feel confusing and bizarre. I hope to never forget a passing glimpse into a tiny hole in the wall room; three men huddled over a single light bulb on the floor surrounded floor to ceiling by bicycle parts. On arriving at Dar Mouassine all was welcoming, hospitality and mostly helpful. I told the night manager that my credit cards had been lost and could I use their phone to cancel them. No, the phone does not work outside the medina, you have to get a phone card from the store and use one of the phones in the big square. It was past midnight and I was not, after 12 hours travel, up for this adventure. However, my friend's phone managed to work, so I was spared. Visually the riad is tunning with tile work and nooks and crannies galore. All the rooms are delightfully different. Our room could only be entered through a very old small door. Oops watch your head! Everything was clean. Although it was often 100 degrees outside, once inside the riad a calm cool took over. The terrace is beautiful by day and night. It is a rare treat to hear the calls to prayer and watch the swifts dart or later see the stars. Breakfasts were awesome and filling. Coffee (strong dark Morroccan yes please) yogurt, orange juice and a variety of baked goods. We stayed in to dinner a couple of nights and were quite pleased. When we needed a cab and small van for various excusions the managment at Dar Mouassine arranged this at a good price. They also were helpful is suggestions on getting around and what fair prices were for cabs.

We love this Riad, with it's helpful staff and lovelyi roof garden. The courtyard with it's black and white tile and huge green plants, is serene and lovely. Dinner is available and any location is possible, so we had breakfast at a table in the courtyard, at a table outside our room. This riad is convenient to everything, and a bargain as well. An amazing value and the highest qualiatiy.

Room Tip: All rooms are good.
