We spent three nights here with friends in Cardamom and Cannelle suites. The property itself is very charming and has the characterful features you’d expect from a well-renovated riad together with opulent furnishings in our suites.
The riad is well located within the Medina in the Mouassine district and is just a 5-10 minute walk from the souks and the square. As with many of the riads, it’s not the easiest to find in the Medina’s narrow streets and alleyways however, Dar Mouassine are able to arrange taxi pickups and even porterage of cases should you need it for the 5 minute walk to the nearest road.
The staff (Latifa, Abdul, Inza and Fatima) really make the place and they were all very friendly and welcoming. We met the owner David several times and he was always very jovial.
Breakfast was served by Inza each morning on the roof terrace and consisted of yoghurt, cake and various breads plus the usual coffee and juice.
Latifa cooked us a superb 3-course meal on our last night that was probably the best we had eaten while in Morocco. We were the only guests eating that night so (with Abdul as waiter) we felt very looked after and it was a very intimate dining experience for the four of us.
The only slight negative we found was the Wi-Fi in our upstairs suites being very patchy. To echo a previous review, the signal from neighbouring riads often appeared to be stronger.
There are plenty of choices of riads in Marrakech however we would not hesitate to return to this peaceful (and gay friendy) haven in a very frenetic city.
