This is a pleasant place to walk and relax away from the hustle of the city. The paths are not all accessible for wheelchair users or those with limited mobility. When I visited there were lots of cranes nesting, they are beautiful birds! Worth it to see them in flight. There are information boards to help you understand the significance of the site, but a guide might have been useful to bring it alive.

The Chellah has a mysterious quality to it that has not been lost to the modernization around it. You can sense the antiquity of the place, even before you see the Roman ruins at the bottom of path. How many peoples have lived and died on that hill side? Then when you add to it the Merinid saints shrines, the pieces of a wall and decorative art from the old mosque, and eel pond, and everywhere the over-grown trees and shrubs everywhere --- you really feel very far from the noise and hubbub of the capital city just a ten-minute walk away. Interesting for a family, especially since they've added historic plaques, even in English. A few places might be a bit dangerous for small children, so not a place for toddlers to run free.

Peaceful walk amongst the Roman and moroccons ruins and necropolis...the information is all in Arabic or French...no English so if you don't have a guide you are kind of clueless... nevertheless I enjoyed walking amongst the ruins...

The ancient ruins of a Roman city are enjoyable to walk through. We visited on a hot day and it was lovely to stroll through the gardens and ruins. We were fortunate to see the stork nests on the ruins. Although we had a guide it is worthwhile reading up on the area before you visit to add extra depth to the visit.

The Kasbah Chellah includes Roman ruins c200 BC - 300 AD, as well as early Moroccan, Islamic buildings representing living space, school, and mosque. Story nests high up on many protrusions from this historic site. Our group ended up taking as many pics of storks as they did anything else! This is a walking tour site; best to find some reading material on it to help you know what you're seeing, unless you have a tour guide. Some uneven walking surfaces, but not a problem. Some paths go 'up' as you make your way out. Tile work and mosaics still visible after all these years. Also interesting was the pool with eels, and the local woman who feeds them and the fish. Cats galore.
