I will keep it short. If you are a backpacker and don't expect clean rooms, service, and english talking staff, this cheap hotel i the middel of nowhere will fit you Well.

If you don't fit that profil, find something else.

I was very disappointed, nothing was like the pictures or the description.

Hi Safina Hotel.

You have a lovely hotel and you have potential to do more to improve a few things:

- improve your breakfast options
- wireless (wifi) signal does not work well in rooms sometimes
- tv channels (mostly super sport) could use with a little local variety and news (CNN, BBC and others)

Othewise the place is perfectly clean, staff extra friendly and place nice and quite for resting.

For the price offered give it more of a personal touch.

Cheers,

Axel

The rooms are comfortable and the staff mostly willing & helpful. However during the two weeks I was there, the restaurant was consistently (always!!) out of stock of most things. They never had more than a couple of options, despite the lenghty menu. What they did have was well prepared, but very tedious having same food every day. This is where location is an issue - because the hotel is not in easy walking of many good options. Instead I started bringing in food from a supermarket to relieve the monotony!! It's a pity because if they could sort this it would be good. I spoke with manager at the time and they promised immediate improvement - but in the remaining 8 days the situation did not change.

The level of services has been maintained including transport logistics to and from the Hotel. The location is excellent for working class and people requiring leisure (quite environment). It is close to the biggest shopping mall in Tanzania (Mlimani City) and expressway to the airport. Tour to Bagamoyo and Mikumi National Parks can be packaged. The environment is clean, quite, comfortable and extremely good.

Room Tip: All rooms are air conditioned while apartments gives a view of Indian Ocean. It's just beatiful and landmark.

This hotel has a surprisingly high standard compared to other 'unknown' hotels in Dar that are not affiliated to an international network. Rooms are spotless and most have great bathrooms (better than the Doubletree). The hotel used to have problems with the water pump but now it seems to work well. Wireless internet is available in the lobby but not in all rooms. If you are on business in Dar and your appointments are near this hotel (e.g. Kijitonyama, Mwenge, Mikocheni) then this is an excellent choice.

However you need to know this:
1. You need to negotiate the rates. The rack rates are much too high given the hotel's location and the fact that the central facilities are very limited (no swimming pool etc.).
2. This is not the type of hotel that has a nice restaurant or bar with outside area. Unfortunately there is also no nice place nearby. So you will spend significant money on taxis in the evening (which need to be pre-arranged as there are none parked outside).
3. The location is quite far from the city cente - a taxi will cost at least TZS 10,000. In the mornings and afternoons the transport times can be substantial (up to 1 hr.). As such this is not the place to go if you have many appointments in town.
