I highly recommend this camp to anyone who is looking for the most beautiful experience in Tanzania. Angel and her colleagues are more than wonderful hosts and will fill your heart with joy, music and wonder. The surroundings are beautiful, the tents exceed all expectations, the food and service are above everything else we have seen. Thank you Angel for these wonderful days. We will always look back on this trip with pleasure.

We spent ten days in the Serengeti and Dunia was one of the highlights. From the welcoming/departure melodies to the excellent food to the starry skies on Bush TV, the entire experience was over the moon.
If you're fortunate enough to have Angel as the camp manager, you're in great hands, she is one of the best.

Room Tip: Watch out for the Cape Buffalo at night.

We had only one night at Dunia, regretfully. The nearly all-female staff were amazing -- fun, caring, joyful women. The setting was beautiful and the tents met the Asilia luxury standard (even better than some, in that they were arranged on step-up platforms, with wooden floors rather than the canvas tent flooring in the mobile camps). The chef is especially good. A wonderful experience.

We spent a few days at Dunia Camp after flying in from Oliver's Camp in Tarangire. It was our second stop of our Tanzanian Safari. The flight from Tarangire was definitely worth it. (We did flights throughout our entire trip and found it to be very convenient. With all the drive time while on safari I was very happy we didn't have more driving "transit" time.)

The immediate difference between Tarangire and Central Serengeti was obvious. This was definitely the land of the Great Plains. Absolutely beautiful scenery, very different than any other safari we had been on in our past. Our driver who picked us up from the airport wasn't going to be our driver for the rest of our stay, so she wasn't necessarily very good at talking to us and sharing any information. It seemed more like a straight transfer to get to the camp vs a game drive along the way. We also had a closed jeep with pop up roof the duration of our time at Dunia. At first I was so used to the open vehicles we had at Olivers (and all our experience in South Africa) that I wasn't thrilled with the closed vehicle. But later after realizing how dusty the roads are in this part of the Serengeti, I was happy to have the closed vehicle with the pop up rooftop to stand and view. Our vehicles were private the whole time at Dunia as well so we could schedule as we wanted and based on how we felt each day.

When we got to the lodge, we were met with all the women staff of the Camp singing and dancing. It was so lovely. They really knew how to make you feel special. We immediately were taken to the main area for lunch (which was delicious!) When we came here it was their first week in the new permanent location. (July 2017) Our room was very nice. It is a bit raised, so a a few stairs up. It was a little dark in the room, the lights didn't seem to work entirely well, but it was ok. It really was incredible to hear all the sounds of the animals around you all day/night. You are completely tucked into the woods and in a very private area. What is interesting, is this area is clearly a Lion Pride's home. I imagine when we came, it was so new having a camp/ppl there, that the lions probably were still running around there at night as if no one was staying there. They were around EVERY night. and VERY close to the camp. We had a close experience on a bush walk in Tarangire but this was pretty incredible too.

One evening we were having dinner and we could see several lions creeping around in the close distance,we would see their eyes shine in the flashlights of the guards who would keep a watch out. We also saw a hyena run right in front of us! And the late evenings.. one word-wow. one evening we heard many lions outside our room, they were roaring etc. they actually ended up doing a kill in the middle of the night. A little scary, in the pitch dark it sounds like they are about to open those canvas walls! I woke up several times that night just listening to the sounds and wondering what was going on out there... We did feel safe, but there were moments my husband looked around and said, "those lions can tear these canvas walls in a second!" :) It was a very REAL experience, worth the trip and incredible if you want to feel a part of their environment. (Exactly what we wanted.)

This was definitely the land of the BIG CATS. On every drive we saw multiple cats. Lions, Cheetahs, Leopards. It was incredible. We even saw the iconic Leopard in a tree- really neat!

We did 2 half day drives and 1 full day drive. On the full day we had lunch at a picnic spot, Dunia packed us the most beautiful lunch. We loved it. ( side note: Oliver's didn't do as strong a job at packing food- we got popcorn on one day. We also stayed at Sayari and they did a great breakfast for us one day.) The food was great at all meals with Dunia, they were very accommodating. My husband had asked to try local food and they even made some for everyone to try. We love to be able to have that authentic experience of trying the local food.

The guide assigned to us was lovely. She was very knowledgeable and ALWAYS on the lookout for the best viewing. Talkative and shared great knowledge about the animals and the land. (We did go on one drive with the lady who transferred us from the airport on the first day, she was ok and we felt a bit rushed with her. She did take us to see a great group of cheetahs, but there was no talking, just her on her radio and then driving- very fast.) But our actual assigned driver the rest of the trip was fabulous. We were seeing cats all the way until the last 5 min close to the airport where we saw a beautiful cheetah sitting on it's own staring into the plains. Just incredible. Note: the roads were really really bumpy and dusty! She was great at handling the jeep on these roads.

I would highly recommend this camp if you want an authentic experience in the Serengeti. I would love to come back again one day! The send off from the team was beautiful. Thank you Dunia Camp. I highly recommend the Asilia group!
