Well at first,, its overpriced, you have to pay double more than Ethiopian fellows, despite the good location,, the wifi works only in reception,, the rooms get very cold at night,, the heaters are not working, even in the bathroom,, door locks are loose, breakfast is the worst, workers are terrible in English.

This is the worst hotel ever!!
Worst service ever!!
All night long a lot off noise!!
The people in the restaurant are NOT kind at all!!
They let u wait for 45 minuts if you order a boiled egg!!
The food was not good and most things are not working ( like tv )
Sleeping on the street is a better option!!!!!!!!!!!

WORST HOTEL EVER!!!!!!! I have never had an experience like this.DO NOT STAY THERE. This was the worst hotel I have ever been at.
Here are a few reasons why not to stay at the National Hotel located in the capital of Ethiopia
1. The reception workers are lazy and do not do anything. It took them three days to give us a new tv, and that tv still didn't work.
2. You need to always lock everything up. The workers steal even if the stuff is in your room. We left our phone on the table and when we came back it was not there.
3. Bugs bugs bugs EVERYWHERE!!!! They eat you up.
4. The windows are broken the rain comes in and it wets up everything.
5. They don't upgrade or update anything.
6. You can hear animals scratching in the walls.
7. The water doesn't always work, and if you ask them to help you they won't do anything.
8. You are very lucky if you can get wifi. No where does it work.
9. If you ask for help with the wifi they do nothing.
10. The restaurant is very slow
11. The breakfast is awful.
12. The restaurant is over priced for the quality of the food and drinks.
13. The workers English is not the best. One woman wanted too put pepper in my tea.
14. At checkout you have added on costs and fees that are unreasonable.
15. The workers yell at each other which is very unprofessional
16. At night the rooms get very cold
17. The reception workers will beg you for stuff for there kids or whoever, and they will manipulate children and ask them instead of asking parents or guardian.

There are many more reasons just don't stay there too find out.

I stayed here for one night after hearing it was a good option in the area. I did not enjoy my stay here. First, upon arriving, the lobby smelled of smoke. It was not a welcoming lobby and the staff was rather unfriendly. Luckily the room they showed me did not smell, so I took it. It was late and I was exhausted. Bed was okay and bathroom worked...at first. Then the water stopped working in the morning. Note, they are building a metro line on Bole Road, so this location has consistent water disruptions (as of February 2013), and the hotel is government owned so nobody cares much.

I had a barely palatable breakfast here with very slow service and was quite eager to leave and find something else. I left my luggage at the front, which didn't feel very secure, as they place it behind a screen instead of in a locked room like everywhere else I had stayed. I said I would come back and perhaps stay if the water was working. Sure enough, still no water upon my return so I moved to the Ras Hotel, which was cheaper and way better.

Price was 819 birr, so about $45. Not bad, but you could do better.

This hotel is old and not very clean. The rooms are very large. The doors can be locked but this makes no sense because they are like being out of paper. Also the windows cannot be closed. The bathroom is very old and not comfortable. However, the hotel is central. It has a small bar in the cellar which is ok for a drink.
