I stayed here for 3 nights recently when visiting Kathmandu. The location us great: a few minutes taxi ride from busy Thamal yet surprisingly calm and tranquil.
Whilst the public areas of the hotel are very grand and impressive, the hotel rooms are less so. Our room on the ground floor was dark, dated and just a little tatty. The view over a flat roof was very uninspiring. The bathroom was unbelievably tiny and the air con nothing more than a luke warm wheeze. All in all I found the room rather uncomfortable and frustrating.
However, the attitude of the staff was never short of excellent and really made up for the underwhelming room. Breakfast was decent with an egg station and a selection of local dishes. The staff at breakfast were superb.
The pool area was pretty and clean. Added bonus of watching several beautifully dressed wedding parties have photos taken in the grounds.
All in all, a very good value and enjoyable stay, just don't expect luxury.More
