This is not a part of the famous Shangri La franchise but is nevertheless a very pleasant place to stay in Kathmandu and the prices are very reasonable compared to the more famous franchise!
The garden is pleasant and the standard rooms are perfectly good and always clean and fresh. The two large bottles of mineral water per night were much appreciated and above the normal provision.
Rooms facing the garden are best as those at the side are partially facing the road and carpark which can be noisy.
Bar prices are high for the area but the local spirits are perfectly acceptable and much cheaper. Food at lunch and dinner is good but not excellent and also pricey for Kathmandu. When we were there they had a special offer of two courses with a large beer if you chose the catch of the day and this was well cooked and great value.
The staff were very helpful and efficient and managed to make you feel special as well.
We stayed for 6 nights overall interspersed with trips to Bhutan and Tibet and it felt like returning home when we came back each time.More
