As the hotel was rather full, I received a room on one of the club floors even though I lacked status with Hyatt, although I did not have access to the club itself. The room was spacious, my king bed comfortable, the bathroom a reasonable size. Drawer and shelve space was adequate. I had a view of the Taipei 101 tower, which was nice (the lights change colors each night of the week). The bathroom had a large counter area, tub, and stall shower.
My rate included breakfast, available in the main lobby buffet restaurant. An impressive selection was available, although heavy on meat and light on fresh fruit. It did include fresh passion fruits (sliced in half), which surprised me, as I thought I was the only one who enjoys eating them straight from the fruit. There is also a salad bar, juices, eggs, and a Chinese items, along with the usual eggs and endless types of pork. They serve a range of loose-leaf tea, including oolong and green from Taiwan as well as black.
The hotel boasts a number of restaurants, including the main buffet one in the lobby, which searches breakfast, lunch, and dinner; a cafe also in the lobby offering a la carte items; a Japanese buffet; a Chinese restaurant, an afternoon tea buffet; and I think more. All are fairly expensive, but the quality was good.
A pleasant surprise is the extensive gym and pool facilities. They have several rooms with cardio, weights, and classes, and an outdoor pool that is ~25 meters long with four marked lanes (although only the two center ones are the full length).
I received full twice a day housekeeping service and daily bottles of water. The turn-down service places a floor towel in front of the shower and a second in front of the toilet, so your feet don't get cold on the tile floor.
A range of daily newspapers are provided, including the International Herald-Tribune.
I found the staff to be very pleasant and helpful, answering what must be the same questions again and again.
My week-long stay happened to include my birthday. The hotel sent a large slice of chocolate cake to my room while I was out, to wish me a happy birthday.
