Compared to the Sukumhumvit area, the Esplanade Mall is relatively modest compared to malls like Central World, Siam Paragon, Terminal 21, and Emporium. However, the Esplanade Mall has a unique charm to it given it's relatively small size. There are some good eateries here as well as a great massage spa (Relax Time). Also, there's a fun and festive night market behind this mall which makes this particular place a good mall not to miss.
Average shopping mall. So skip it and go to the night market behind it. Great food items and shopping.
I visited the mall before going to the talad Rod Fai behind it. The mall is ok and rather nice. But with so many great mall's in Bangkok this is just an average one.
Visited this mall after a 2 hour shopping in Talad RodFai, has great stalls in the center of the mall and sometimes they have cheap deals/sales. Lots of food choices and most of them looks clean. Would recommend!
I've been going regularly to this mall for the last 2 years, as I usually stay in this area when in BKK. It's much smaller than its newer neighbor Central Plaza Rama 9 down the road, but for me that's a good thing.
It has all the usual offerings, such as restaurants (many are Japanese-themed), Cineplex cinema, bowling alley, karaoke, Tops supermarket, WE fitness club (formerly California Wow), plus something you won't find in any shopping center in Bangkok: at the stores facing Ratchadapisek Rd you can sit outside and enjoy your coffee or dinner with a smoke. If you like a cigar like I do, then this makes it a winner.
As others have said, it's next to the Thai Cultural Center MRT stop. Or if you want to be more adventurous, hop on any baht bus from Asoke going north on Ratchadapisek. Don't take taxi from 4 to 7pm, as the traffic is horrendous even by BKK standards.
We visited this Mall to see the 'Art in Paradise' exhibition. The exhibition was absolutely amazing! The shopping mall was big & clean, with lots of eating places and a huge cinema complex. They have market style stalls which are good value, maybe not as many shops as some malls but plenty of beauty outlets!
