Owner description: The backpacking district of Khao San Road is the traveler hub of South East Asia. Jam-packed with raucous bars and restaurants as well as budget hostels, it’s a favorite for late-night revelers.

Always packed lively and vibrant. Every ones hustlin'. A backpacker's paradise. Cheap beers, buckets of cocktails and food everywhere. The kebabs are mediocre though.

My husband came here twenty years ago. We both visited Khaosan Road 5 and 3 years ago then last week and it's unbelievable how the place did change. No more the hippie happy go lucky backpackers sort of place it was before. Even if it's still a great busy place full of restaurants and cheap hotels, it's nevertheless more upmarket, more trendy. There's even a huge Ibis Style hotel in the middle of the road! Which means a lot less little shops and cheap eateries.
Same same but different! But still a great place to spend the evening.

Thank Aralya

Busy night and day. Mixed traveller crowd. Plenty of restaurants, bars and shopping. Need to bargain to get fair price from vendors.
Always good for a night out with friends. Very busy on weekends.

I started my night off on Khao San Road attempting to eat a scorpion...w/ no success, because I chickened out after giving it a small bite. Afterwards, I walked the street w/ friends looking for a place to go in. We settled down at a place that served drink buckets. It was a fun time and somewhat reminded me of New Orleans how people just walk, party and drink in the street. There are definitely some interesting sights to see on Khao San Road.

A must see, full of bars and hostels. It is what everybody says it is. You can get a nice cold beer but check out the different prices they vary significantly. If you are on a budget then look around. Worth a visit.
