In a noisy commercial sector of Bangkok (near Lumphini Park), The Rose Hotel is an oasis of peace and quiet. Set back from the main road, the Rose offers the traveller a pleasant and relaxing environment. It is not fancy by any means, but is clean and well maintained and has two great advantages: one is its delightful outdoor swimming pool, and the other is the authentic Thai restaurant, the Ruen Urai, which appears to be part of the same management and is adjacent to the hotel. It offers really good Thai food in an authentic old Thai house that is rich in atmosphere. There is also a small restaurant in the hotel that does passable breakfasts and the like. One general tip: as this is pretty much a tourist area, be aware that you are likely to be approached by hawkers and hustlers if you walk around the local streets.

Stayed here 3 nights, went away and came back to stay again. Wouldn't think of staying anywhere else in Bangkok. For the price, the location and amenities (fantastic pool, restaurant) are unbeatable. BUT, check out the room before you agree to say - some have terrible AC, and you can't open the windows b/c of mosquitoes (no screens). If you get a good room (which we did on our first stop)-- the place is first-rate. Just check the room and AC first.

Room tip: Try to get a pool view and check the AC first.

I stayed here 2 nights.
The location is good. the staff was friendly and the swimming pool is great!
The room was basic. The matrass was hard as concreeet.!!
No view and because there are no laced curtains you have to close your cutains, because of the buiding right in front of you.
No where in the hotel is free wifi, they charge 300 bath for 24 hours.
I will not stay here the next time

Booked online after arriving in Bangkok. Good location near Patpong. Wanted gay friendly hotel. Photos looked nice, pool lovely, top rated restaurant. HOWEVER - rooms very tiny, not very clean, falling apart, bad plumbing, saggy bed, lumpy pillows, noisiest air conditioner I've ever experienced. Room DID NOT look at all like web photos. Complained to manager. They were not helpful. No refund. No room change. Dreadful bathroom. Ad said - SAT TV - however only 3 channels and all very fuzzy on old small TV. You can do FAR BETTER in the area.

Room tip: You may find they have better rooms on the higher floors but I very much doubt it.

Great place for the price in Silom. Perfect location. Not luxurious by any means, but the pool was refreshing, the staff VERY courteous and helpful, the rooms were clean, and it's a stone's throw from the famous Patpong night market (where the full spectrum of Bangkok's colorful nightlife comes alive.) Very close to Bangkok's gay nightlife as well. I would stay there again.

Room tip: Some of the larger suites have a view of the pool and some of the smaller rooms have a view of the alley leading to Patpong.
