I usually choose where I stay from a Fodors/Lonely Planet guide but this wee place doesn't show up. I found it on Google with awesome reviews all richly deserved.
We booked Room #4 and it was perfect for us. Right next to the pool, overlooking the courtyard and a bit larger than some of the others. This location doesn't have an elevator so consider this when you book.
We were looked after very well by the day Manager Wilawan who was perfectly delightful. If we had an early excursion they provided a box lunch. I was able to arrange some of my tours from Canada which given my unfamiliarity with Thailand was helpful indeed.
My favourite time of day here was first thing in the morning where you could watch the locals on their way to work, holding lunches, children, etc. on their motor bikes. It was the way to get a real feel for the community as it is lived. If you want authentic Chiang Mai you can't go wrong here.
One thing I forgot to mention were the lovely breakfasts. You have the option of going Western, trying the local fare, or a combination of both.More
