We very much enjoyed our three nights at the Buri Gallery House, but there is good and bad. The good is that the room includes breakfast (which is very good), there is free internet in the lobby, and the staff was very courteous and gracious in giving recommendations and helping with our stay. The rooms and the overall facility is very clean, they gave the best massage I had in Thailand, and all rooms include TVs, DVD players, mini fridges stocked with 2 water bottles daily, and a hot pot for tea. All rooms also have an AC unit.
The downsides. While the facility is billed as "classic teak architecture," it does have very thin walls and to westerners may feel cheap. One night, we could hear our neighbors tv and I had to ask her to turn it down. We had a basic room on the first floor that was great because it had no windows - usu a bad thing - but it stayed dark and had no bugs. My parents had a deluxe room on the second floor with it's own computer and internet. However, 3 windows meant they had more bugs and it was harder to keep cool. The halls of the guest house are extremely hot b/c it was April in Thailand, but the rooms are cool due to the AC.
All in all, I"m very glad we stayed here because it was comfortable enough and the service more than made up for any shortcomings. They even have a selection of DVDs for guests to watch for free!a
