The hotel was comfortable, well located, and the staff was friendly and very helpful. Hannan was very sweet. The rooms were comfortable, good bathrooms, air conditioning and breakfast. It was a good value fort the price.

We had a great stay at this hotel. It is centrally located in the Old Quarter and the hotel arranged a private cab for airport pick-up and drop off for us. You are greeted with freshly made juice and fruit when you arrive and can also order fresh juice, tea, or coffee anytime and have it brought to your room for no charge. Rooms are very spacious and staff are very helpful. Just keep in mind that their recommendations / tours may not be for everyone - we were told not to walk to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum but we ignored this advice and had a very pleasant walk there.

There is a small and very limited breakfast buffet and a menu to order from, so you can eat as varied a breakfast as you like. I had to wait an hour for my breakfast the first day though. It would be nice if the hotel offered hand soap by the sink and shampoo and conditioner - there were hair washing products for my last 2 nights for not for the first 2.

We had 10 days in Hanoi and I originally booked 4 nights at Splendid Star Suite Hotel.
Rooms are very good value for money, breakfast is great and the manager's Tom and Hannah look after all your needs.
The rooms fronting the church do get the church bells but I found this very novel. I also stayed in room facing the back street which does not get the church bells noise if that is a worry.
Great location, lake nearby very beautiful and a joggers delight with about 1.5km a lap.
With limited days in Vietnam and wanting to see both Sapa and Halong Bay, I actually booked 3 day tours to both places through the hotel and was very happy with all aspects including standard of hotel in Sapa and boat in Halong Bay, sleeper bus to and from Sapa during the day was very comfortable, Aclass Legend boat was great, and we had our own private trekking guide in Sapa. Do yourself a favour and do the 3 day 2 night cruise to get a really nice quiet day from the crowds on Day 2.
Was even able to shower on the last evening at hotel on return from Halong Bay before 1am flight.
I normally book everything myself but for this trip very happy with what the hotel organised for me.
Highly recommended!

If you wish stay in the old quarter at a decent price, this one is a good choice. Decent rooms, courteous staff who also provide you a lot of details on how to make most of your time in Hanoi.
Walking distance from the lake, night market. You can explore the old quarters on foot.

Cons: there is a cathedral right opposite the hotel which rings bells every 15 minuets or so even at night. The hotel has no lifts. Breakfast is made to order with a limited options and no buffet to chose from.
