My friend and I dipped in here after exploring around West Lake. The rooftop doesn't open until 4pm so we had the best piña coladas I've ever had in the lounge. The staff were lovely and the complimentary bar snacks were perfect. After that drink we went up to the rooftop bar on the 20th floor. Amazing views of all of Hanoi! Again, great attentive service. I had the red sangria and my friend the white. Both were great, and not just the typical wine and juice combo you see in Canadian bars too often. Lots of liquor! We also had the fresh spring rolls and haloumi cheese which I recommend.

Overall the hotel is a great place to relax in a great location where the general standard of the whole place is gold standard .

The staff at the Hanoi Sofitel Plaza were so helpful.

They made the stay so enjoyable. Nothing was ever too much trouble.

We used the hotel either side of a planned trip to Ha Long bay. They helped us with directions and ideas of places to see.

They also went out of their way to make sure we had as much local knowledge as we could handle.

I would recommend staying at this hotel.

Nestled in the tip of west lake which is nearest to Old Quarters Hanoi, this hotel allows you peace, quiet,
luxury and ease to access Old Quarters.

The food in hotel is great and very good priced. The dinner buffet could not be missed for the raw rock oysters and clams are something to die for! "Ready to order" for real time cooking steaks and seafood are within the buffet menu and they are cooked well to order, which even in Europe are sometimes a "hard to get". On non weekends, each buffet costs USD40 for an adult and USD25 for a child. The value and quality are simply so good, despite deserts are hard for non European chefs, where they did an average job too.

Concierge at hotel is exceptionally helpful and patient. They ordered us bikes and showed us the route to cycle around West Lake which is a 2.5 hours and 17km ride, where we visited the Lotus Pond, which is incredible! We also visited shops, temples, bistros, noodle shops and had sugarcane drinks and young coconuts on the street! The ride is easy and staff at hotel would stir try show you how and give you very helpful maps!

West Lake is where the expat lives and around there, you have Intercontinental and Sheraton as hotel options. I vote for Sofitel Plaza because 1. it's gym facilities are great, massive and well rounded and open 24 hours; 2. It's pool has streamlined and well designed glass roofs which could be closed on a misty or rainy day; and 3. It offers great western food which could be taken in room, at its very restful restaurant or at its 20/F bar.

All staff are nice, friendly, helpful and patient and they really rock.

While hotels of better rates in Old Quarters are plenty, I am so pleased that we went to Sofitel Plaza for they speak English well, staff are well trained and the food they serve is good so that it could be a back up call should we wish not to eat local food outdoors!

Large modern hotel with a beautiful view over the lake and city. We stayed here 2 nights on our trip through Vietnam - the roof top bar has a fabulous view but gets very busy (difficult to get a table outside) and has very loud music indoors (plus a slightly quirky lift to get up to it).

Good choice at breakfast, though it can be very busy with lots of tour groups and business travellers. We enjoyed watching the chaotic scooter traffic whilst eating breakfast in the mornings.

Our room was comfortable and reasonable size, with a very nice marble bathroom with separate shower and bath, and large basin area.

It is a quick taxi ride into town - may be best to get hotel staff to tell the taxi driver exactly where to take you to.
