Location
Right next to the famous lake in centre of city, on major road to airport. It takes about 30 minutes drive since new bridge has been introduced. There is also a train station nearby and within vicinity, various shops, the odd bar and massage place within walking distance. KFC for fast food lovers is opposite.
Room
Room on 9th floor offered a very nice view and was fairly cosy, whilst not as good as previous Sofitel I stayed at (In casablanca) the king size bed was comfortable- just does not offer that super comfortable European bedding, however still slept peacefully.
Bed side tables either side with lamps controlled by a touch pad unit on side (that also controls A/C, all lighting, do not disturb and an alarm clock) & telephone. Plugs are conveniently international sockets for all. There is a large comfortable wide arm chair that face the samsung TV that offers 54 Channels, offering in addition to Vietnamese language channels from UK, US, France, Italy, Spanish, German, Russian, Korean, Chinese, Arabic, Japanese, Indian & Thai.
Below the TV is a mini bar with snacks, soft drinks & liquor items. A wardrobe is close by that has inside an easy to use lap top size safe, two Sofitel robe's, hair dryer and slippers for two- all in Sofitel bags. A small luggage rack is offered next to a large glass top desk that has a convenient multi media plug...Location

A wardrobe is close by that has inside an easy to use lap top size safe, two Sofitel robe's, hair dryer and slippers for two- all in Sofitel bags. A small luggage rack is offered next to a large glass top desk that has a convenient multi media plug unit: offering international plug sockets, USB, Audio and HMDI etc with and W -LAN cable with a decent lamp and some Sofitel stationary. This desk offers a window view of the city below.
The bathroom is full marble cut that offers a separate bath and spacious shower cubicle. Plenty of Sofitel amenities and decent size bottles of the brand 'Les Notes des Lanvin". A telephone isbn the toilet as is the TV volume control to listen while you bathe- though not possible to watch TV from in there.
Overall the room is very comfortable and cosy, it sort of tries the colonial white wooden look with brown furnishings and curtain but looked cosy and more or less suitable for the executive business man, the only item missing is an Iron & ironing board or trouser press etc. Though believe this can be requested from reception.
Facilities
The hotel offers free secure WIFI, that worked well for 3 devices only.
Catering includes 2 restaurants, a pastry cafe and a lobby bar for which a welcome drink voucher can be redeemed at. I had breakfast and this was very nice, catering for both European, American, Asian and Japanese clientele.
In addition the hotel offers a business centre, car rental. currency exchange, fitness centre (that includes a sauna, jacuzzi, all seasons swimming pool with retractable roof), massage and spa services. They also offer jogging amenities- such as a map, drink, energy bar and hand towel.
For those interested in more premium rooms there is a club lounge as well.
Overall I did not use any but had a look around and its a full 5 star offering.
Staff
Staff are very nice as always in Vietnam, hospitable and warm in service. Check-in/out was troublesome and smooth. Restaurant staff are also very attentive.
Overall a very nice 5 star comfortable business hotel in Hanoi. Both functional and cosy, but not that close to old quarter say to walk to. I would stay here again though.More
