My husband and I stayed here for a few days on our honeymoon and had the BEST time! Khanh and Minh were amazing hosts and the studio was absolutely beautiful. Arriving at the studio was difficult because it's tucked away so quietly in the middle of a huge neighborhood, but once we were there we were blown away by the property - it is truly "The Forest of Hanoi City."
Upon arriving we were shown to the apartment upstairs which is the entire upstairs of the studio. The whole place is filled with Khanh's beautiful artwork (of which we purchased two canvases!) and the apartment was such a romantic spot for a honeymoon. After settling in we were treated to a homemade dinner by Minh, who couldn't have been sweeter if she tried! Other travelers were staying in the tree house so we visited with them and talked with Khanh (fascinating man!!) and it was like we were old friends rather than guests. We were so touched at Khanh and Minh's kindness and their excitement in helping us celebrate our new marriage.
To sum up: beautiful place, great food and company, and a short ride to the city. I can't recommend this place highly enough! Thank you for making our honeymoon so memorable.

This is a brilliant home stay. It was fascinating to live in Khanh's studio, amongst all his interesting art works. The rustic house, jungle like garden and tree house combine to give a most unusual and peaceful ambiance. Host Khanh is considerate and charming, giving freely of his valuable time. His help/cook - Mingh is a treasure and will rustle up home cooked food for you, to enjoy in the communal seating area where you can enjoy the company of the other privileged few guests. Simple facilities, no luxuries, but character a plenty. Recommended for those who want a very different experience.
Had an excellent stay at the Khanh studio, which is just a $3-$5 cab ride from the old quarter of Hanoi.
The house is truly one of a kind, a 150+ year old Hmong Indian tribal chiefs hut that was disassembled in north vietnam, transported to Hanoi, and reassembled. Way cool to say you slept in the bedroom of a tribal chief!
The owner, Khanh, is a famous artist in Vietnam, and is really interesting to talk to, and browse his works which are numerous around the house and gardens. He spent 18 years in the secret police of north vietnam before becoming a very contemporary artist, whose themes focus on love. I would imagine if we had spent more time talking with him we would have heard some very interesting things about Vietnam, but we only had two days to cram in sightseeing in Hanoi.
The housekeeper is super helpful and friendly, and cooked us meals and brought us drinks and snacks whenever we were home! The meals were really good and really traditional vietnamese food. It was almost like having our own butler around the house.
Theres a few kittens running around the property, a really cute dog, and some hilarious pigeons that silently follow you around the driveway whenever its their mealtime.
We stayed two nights and had a very relaxing time. The housekeeper made us a super cozy fire one night, which is in the room next to the bedroom. The open air setup of the tribal house made this possible. The bed has a mosquito net, so it was pleasant to sleep there.
Overall it was a really unique experience. The amenities are nice but not 5 star luxuries. The bathroom is down one floor, but has plenty of hot water and a western style toilet. A really memorable time overall!
