This is the 2nd time I been to Vietnam. This time was for a photoshoot with a customer, who read the reviews of Bich Duyen and went ahead to place a book for my crew and themselves. I stayed there for a length of 4 days, and I can swear that even back in Singapore, you will NEVER get this kind of Royal treatment even in 5 Start Hotels like Conrad, Hotel Intercontinnental, etc., and let's not mention the cheaper hotels here cos their service are non-existence.
What I love about our ' BIG DURIAN ' is the level of friendliness and they really make us truly feel welcome. Very sincere and friendly people who will go all their way out to help us with our daily needs.
Only qualm is climbing stairs day in and out. But when you think of how nice the people in this hotel are, and the rates is " OH MY GOD reasonable", I would not have asked for anything more.
Location wise, Pham Ngu Lao is infamous for its backstreet, backpackers environment. You can get things thats cheaper than down town BT market. The entire street is always buzzing with life, and just in case you are hungry at 5am in the morning. You can run off to the beef noodle store at the corner of the lane near the main street, just 3 mins walk out of the alley, you will have...This is the 2nd time I been to Vietnam. The entire street is always buzzing with life, and just in case you are hungry at 5am in the morning. You can run off to the beef noodle store at the corner of the lane near the main street, just 3 mins walk out of the alley, you will have a nice fresh hot ' Bo Kor ' beef stewed served with either baguette or noodles. Its very delicious I have to say! Twice during breakfast, they ran out of fresh baguettes, hotel staffs rush to buy freshly baked ones for us, came to our plates, hot steam rushed out once you start muching into it. It tasted so lovely even with butter only! No way, we will have that service elsewhere!
Its not the safest place in HCM to be honest, once out of the back alleys, you will have eyes poking at you. just got to be extremely careful with your wallet and money.
For a country like my home, Singapore, we have so much to learn from being ' acting friendly' to being really 'sincere' in our job and Bich Duyen is a testimony of that!More
