I been here with some of my colleagues and came back again with my friends. The taste is good, price is acceptable, various of option with many kind of sea food.
But i do suggest these (sorry i only know the Vietnamese name):
- ốc mỡ xào me (call along with bread, the sauce is so so good)
- răng mực xào bơ tỏi
- ốc len xào dừa
- nghêu hấp thái

Dont try the crab here

The food was great - especially the squid teeth with bread (sounds weird but delicious). The spirally shelled snails in the coconut sauce were also fantastic. If you want a local and authentic experience then this is the place to go. Highly recommended if you can navigate your way through the residential maze to find the bloody place (or book a taxi there like smart people do). Definitely for the adventurous.

Taste is good with fresh seafood. Price is reasonable.
Space is large but it so hot at the afternoon.

I think you can go at after 4h PM.

Where to start?

First dish arrived without the bread that was supposed to accompany it. We were asked to wait 5 minutes.

Two other dishes we ordered arrived almost by the time we had finished the first.

Ordering a second beer seemed too hard for anyone to accomplish.

Asking for the bill was a task in itself. They just did not seem to be interested even after asking at least 3 people.

To top off the evening we had to pay for parking, not unusual in HCMC, but a bit steep for an establishment with a huge and obvious client base.

Btw I was there with my Vietnamese girlfriend who lives in HCMC, so our experience was not a question of language or understanding.

Oc Dao was a little hard to find, as it is nestled in a residential area of District 1. Recommend way of getting here is to order a taxi otherwise you might get lost. Nevertheless we reached this restaurant by foot and was glad to discover the wide variety of seafood here. One drawback is that since it's catered to locals, you have to know some Vietnamese phrases or rely on younger locals who can act as your translator. Love the seafood here - all fresh and tasty! The best part, however, is the bread - crunchy and heavenly, and perfect for the seafood and sauces you'll have here. Works out to be around 400,000 Dong (under 20USD) for a group of four. Well worth it, but next time I'll be a little lazier and take a taxi here.
