We booked this hotel based on reviews and we weren’t disappointed. I contacted the hotel months in advance to arrange tickets for the Nadaam festival and the manager, Amgalan, was very accommodating. He also arranged an airport pickup for us and even brought us back to the airport the next day to get our lost luggage.
Location is perfect...right next to the main square, across the street from the National Museum and within easy walking distance of the State Department Store. The restaurant downstairs served us our best meal in Ulaanbaatar. If it hadn’t closed for the festival, we would have eaten there every night.
Rooms were clean, but aged. The beds were firm, but comfortable. Bathroom was nicely appointed with the toilet in a separate closet. Our room had a small balcony, which was nice since a/c isn’t widely used here. We quickly realized thought that we needed mosquito repellant if we wanted to sleep with the balcony door or window open. The best part of the room was the small kitchenette. We could heat up leftovers, make coffee or ramen soups in the middle of the night when jet lag kept us awake.
Great tourist class hotel!
