We had a wonderful stay at Witt last weekend. We stayed four nights and enjoyed returning to it every evening. The panoramic king room is definitely worth the upgrade - great views of the river and the old city, and we never heard a peep from the streets below when the windows were closed (and the A/C was on full blast so we didn't need to open them at night). I loved hearing the call to prayer from the nearby mosque every evening when we opened the windows. Breakfast was great and more than enough, with meusli/cereal, bread and pastries, fruit, cheese and eggs made to order.
It is up a steep hill from the Tophane tram stop but, other than that, it is a great location and being on the T1 line was great. The metro card is a very nice touch! Made getting around even easier. It was great to be so close to the old city, Taksim, Galata, etc.
What really made the difference, though, was the staff. Everyone was wonderful, very helpful, and everyone spoke very good English. Emre (sp?) at the front desk was particularly helpful, with all sorts of things - how to get anywhere, restaurant recommendations, where to go to shop in the local neighborhood, arranging a reliable and safe cab to the airport, etc. His help was invaluable.
We really loved our stay at Witt!!More
