I planned a trip to Istanbul for my anniversary. I did intensive research into hotels and was impressed with the two Four Seasons properties. They did not disappoint. We spent 2 nights at the Sultanahmet location. The location is ideal for all the sightseeing points. You are just steps away from all the major attractions and this made the extra money worth it. The concierge was exceptional with restaurant recommendations and shopping. We also had a transfer from the airport to the hotel which added to the experience. The food at the hotel was average, we had breakfast included in our room rate so we ate this there. This is not a cheap hotel, but you pay for the service. We had a level above the standard room which was on a higher floor with a terrace. I would not recommend the standard rooms as they all tend to be on the first floor and seem to be noisier. After two days we transferred to the Four Seasons Bosphorous property for a very different, but also outstanding experience. I would highly recommend the Four Seasons hotels in Istanbul.

We stayed at the Four Seasons Sultanamet for a week in August with our 2.5 year old grandson. Everyone could not have been nicer. From the tiny slippers and robe to the coloring books to a fabulour Jr. menu (actually we ate from it too. It was half the price of the regular menu. I mean filet mignon and brocolli for $12!!!) everything was just great. The staff - as I hav found at other Four Seasons - took care of our every need even anticipating some needs before we had them. The staff were charmed by Ben and he was delighted with them. It is a wonderful city for kids with lots to see and do. We took a trip up the Bosphorus on a ferry with a nice lunch at the last stop. And then we took another ferry to the Prince's Is. and stopped at the last one for a carriage ride up to the top ofthe island (no cars allowed on the island). Ben loved the "horsies" and we loved the views and the wonderful old houses from all time periods. Reminded us a bit of Nantucket. Because we were being "granny-nanny (and grandad) for Ben for our own child who was there on behalf of the American government we were able to take advantage of the meeting rate. Without that the cost would be very high - but worth every penny. It is sparkling clean, efficient, charming, comfortable has marvelous food and staff. Cannot say enough. I saw this Hotel on a travel channel "20 best hotels" program. It is a fantastic oasis of calm right in the middle of a busy part of the city. Locatied very close to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, The Byzantine Cistern and the Grand Bazaar it is an ideal venue for exploring some fo the most famous sites in the fantastic city. The rooms are beautifully frunished, the gardens are manicured perfectly and the service from the staff is brilliant. When the doorman says "welcome back" as you re-enter the hotel you really believe he really means it. It is expensive, but if you can afford it, you will be made to feel special.

This is a charming hotel well located in the center of Istanbul’s old town within easy walking distance of major sites and interesting shopping streets. Its public areas are handsomely decorated with beautiful fabrics, paintings and furniture that evoke the feel of Turkey’s past. Additionally, the staff was professional, helpful and quite friendly. It has a lovely rooftop terrace with impressive views that, unfortunately, was too cold to use while we were there (last week of April), but did offer a great place for photographs of the surrounding mosques.

The hotel’s bedrooms are nice sized and well appointed. We spent five nights in one of the suites (separate sitting and bedroom, plus a small half bath off the seating area, in addition to the spacious bathroom attached to the bedroom). It overlooked the pretty interior courtyard and garden restaurant where a sumptuous buffet breakfast was served. Some of the guest rooms have impressive views of the Ayah Sophia and/or Blue Mosque…worth looking into if you enjoy having a view. Wifi is available in the rooms at a surprisingly hefty cost, but free in the lobby and business center.

On our first night after the long flight from the states, we had a delicious dinner in the hotel’s restaurant. After that, we tried restaurants both close by and a cab’s drive away. Given the heavy traffic from 6 to 9 in the evening, my recommendation would be to limit your restaurant choices to those within walking distance from the hotel. One night we spent over an hour trying to get to a restaurant where our travel agent had made reservations for us! The concierge at the hotel will know what nearby restaurants are currently best.

Much has already been written about this very special hotel.

Certainly the location for exploring the Old Town (where many of the key sights are) is perfect - you would not believe how peaceful this hotel is when you turn the corner to Haggia Sophia, nor how pleasurable that tranquility is!

The small courtyard is absolutely delightful, crammed full of flowers - we enjoyed breakfast and lunch out there in the sunshine.

The hotel is boutique-style, very well-appointed and luxurious. We booked 2 connecting rooms, which were both spacious with the trademark wonderful high-thread count sheets, excellent 4S bathrooms, large flat screen TVs with DVD players (that actually worked with our own DVDs),

However, it is the warm, personal and kind service that stood out for us! In the past I have found some Four Seasons hotels that we have stayed in deliver service that, although always very professional and efficient, can be rather impersonal. Not here! Upon arrival, we were greeted at the door like the most treasured guests, welcomed back into the bosom of its family - we were overwhelmed. The service never ever dropped from this level. We were greeted by friendly smiles and offers to help or provide information wherever we went.
Every member of staff was absolutely charming and helpful.

I would 100% recommed this hotel to anyone who likes great comfort, personalised service and wishes to stay in the heart of Old Istanbul. I would also strongly suggest guests combine a stay here with the Bosphorus property, which is very different but also superb.

We will definitely be back!
