I have travelled to all six populated continents and have never seen a worst show in my life. It was a huge waste of time, costs a fortune and it guarantees to bore you to tears. It is supposed to last an hour, but most of the times you get to hear an old men playing some extremely boring music to get you sleepy, then 4 lazy looking mean in black garments slowly walked in, bowed a hundred times to each other, the audience and their musicians and sat down. They eventually take the black outfit off and started turning round and round as if they were on drugs, very slowly and called it dancing. then they rest for a while and the old man sang the sleepy song again. THe 4 guys would spin slowly some more and suddenly it all ended. They must have spun a for 15 to 20 minutes if we were that lucky. 5 guests from a fairly full house left early. they were lucky. I had to sit through the end to give face to my GF whole really dug this stuff. It bore me to sleep numerous times. 2 ladies couldn't believe it ended when it did. a fool and his money would soon part. DON'T DO IT. 4 men high on grass can dance better than these men who scammed stupid tourists like me out of his money!

Dear Review owner , It seems you are a experienced traveller . I naturally appreciate the energy you have for writing such a review for us . But I wish you have used your experience and the same energy to search about sufism and the Dervish Experience to see if it suites to your taste before buying the tickets .

It of course gives a nice little experience in to some Turkish history and culture. It lasts for an hour, which is fine but most of it was filled with videos and poorly played music. Maybe I got the bad night?

We attended the RHYTM OF THE DANCE show which is usually only once a week – on Saturday at 21:00. It is really something what must be seen in Istanbul and worth its price (110 TKL – the most expensive show in Hodjapasha). The show lasts about 65 minutes but no one second is lost. It is dynamic, with very professional dancers and very interesting scenography.
There are probably about 120-150 seats. The allocation of seats is based on the order of booking (first booked – better seats). We booked seats about to weeks before and have got the best seats (first row, in the middle). The seats are round the scene in a few rows (three sides of the scene) – the dancers are just 1-2 meters in front of the audience). Before the show some hot and cold drinks are offered free of charge.
The show RHYTM OF THE DANCE includes Otomani Palace dances, Zaybek dances from Eagean Region, Roman Gypsy dances, Shamna dance in darkness, dances from Eastern part of Turkey, from Balkan region, dances from Black Sea region and some other dances / solo or group shows. The short video presented on the official web site doesn't reflect the reality which is much more interesting and fascinating. It is allowed to make photos – without flash lamp.

Be prepared to be over whelmed by how history practically echoes through the walls of HodjaPasha Cultural Center. The Sufi souls that walked through these halls and the Dervish that rekindle them as they spin is nothing short of being magical. It is elevating and serene.
