Owner description: Located outside the walls of Jerusalem, this beautiful garden among a grove of olive trees is thought to be the place where Jesus particularly enjoyed prayer and contemplation.

A beautifully kept garden where Christ is said to have spent his final hours in prayer before his trial and execution. Unfortunately, the day we visited it was filled with tour groups and was too crowded and noisy to be a quiet place for meditation.

The Garden of Gethsemane is the site where Christ spent his last night here prior to his arrest and crucifixion after his betrayal by Judas. The garden contains olive trees that are 100s (over a 1000) of years old. In addition, there are plants with gorgeous flowers of various colors and hues.

The "Rock of Agony" upon which Jesus sat upon and slept that fateful night is encompassed by a Catholic Church built over it. In the same area is a Greek Orthodox Church, a Russian Orthodox Church of Maria Magdalene and orchard as well as the tomb of the Virgin Mary.

This area is beautiful in its own right as well as a site of a premier event in the New Testament.

This is a place believed to be the Garden where our Lord Jesus took his disciples up pray knowing that the time of sufferings were near, it is surrounded with several very thick trunks olive trees believed to be more than 2000 years old and still bearing fruits, there's a Church right behind the rock believed to be the area where Jesus knelt down and prayed before the roman soldiers arrived with Judas to betray Jesus. It is a very profound experience to come visit
