What a joy to finally visit this park-like area, and now the church built there. Jesus' 4th temptation (to "let this cup pass") where he struggled with the ultimate sacrifice which was just before him. And the place of the betrayal...

One of the most impressive gardens in Jerusalem. It contains olive trees dated 1000 to 2000 years ago. One tree trunk is dated from the days of Jesus.

At the foot of the Mount of Olives, you will find the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus prayed so earnestly before being arrested, condemned, beaten, and crucified. As olive trees survive fire, flood, and ax, some of the trees in the garden date back to Jesus' day, so He could have prayed underneath one of them. While the trees in the garden are fenced off, there is one tree you are actually allowed to touch.

Combine this visit with a trip to the mountain and the church of Mary.
The church has a beautiful decorated sealing.
The garden where Jesus got betrayed is the spot where the more dan 3000 year old olive trees are standing.
You need to wear covering clothes out of respect.
