Owner description: Free guided tours of Israel’s Parliament include an explanation of the structure of the Israeli government and a look at the famous tapestries of Marc Chagall, which illustrate important moments in Jewish history.

English speaking guide was knowledgeable about the building, who's who and how the Israeli parliamentary system works.
Visitors must bring their passports and allow enough time for security checks. On the day we went there was a demo outside one of the other government buildings in the area and the bus stopped before the Knesset so we had to walk an extra stop. Visitors must also remember they need to dress smart -casual ( not holiday wear).

Don't know why more people don't take advantage of this opportunity. No reservation is required, just make sure to check first. Very interesting place and the tour guide was wonderful. No charge at all. Just remember to show up at least 20 minutes early to undergo security screening. FYI wear long pants since required for admission.

A very informative and concise tour from which you will learn a lot about how Israel's government - the only democracy in the region, addressing the needs and interests of a remarkably diverse citizenry - operates. Thought-provoking to see how a democracy created 150 years after the US sought to innovate government processes, in some ways more successfully than others. In addition, the Chagall artwork is remarkable. Well worth the 90 min. tour - and I'd also recommend doing the Supreme Court tour, which is an easy walk. Check each site's web page for the timing of the English language tours.

A guided tour is full of facts and unlocks the information about why Israel is Israel and how the Jews view their state and how the two peoples interact. Chagall's masterpiece is astonishing. Recommend going here in combination with Israel museum. Check the hours before you come. If you are too early, they won't let you in and you must wander the park while you wait. Heavy security, so bring passport.

I've been to the Knesset a few times, but this was the first time with a guided tour and it was worthwhile. The Chagall tapestries and other art works alone were worth the trip. Having a guide really helped to appreciate the art.
Then there is the building and its history and a visit to the main chamber. For those unfamiliar with parliamentary government and Israeli politics, you really leave with a much better understanding.
This is a must-see in Jerusalem.
