The island isn’t terrible. It appears to be a nice place to get away and barbecue or enjoy the water. The staff appears friendly and you can order an array of snacks and cool beverages. However, the beach itself is rather rocky/full of pebbles and sharp stones. The island is small and aside from the water sports and super expensive tours, there isn’t much to do. If you want to enjoy a beach, you can just as easily go to a beach in Amwaj. Overall, I have been to much better places in and out of Bahrain that make Al Dar shrivel in comparison.
