We had a delivery today from KARAK Gholam for a newly released ice cream. My friend highly recommended the new ice cream in her food blog. It is the Rose Falooda ice cream.
.
KARAK Gholam is a local invention. It is a Teahouse that serves Indian street food and tea, such as chai Karak (“masala chai” in Hindi) and chapati sandwiches. Karak Gholam means the “Tea Boy”. At Karak Gholam, tea is brewed fresh every 45 minutes. Karak tea is a blend of tea flavoured with cardamom, ginger & other herbs cooked with milk.
.
My favorite Indian dessert, Rasmalai is available. Rasmalai is Cottage cheese soaked in sweetened milk and sprinkled with saffron. The café serves Traditional Kuwaiti cakes and biscuits such as Gors Egeli and Lisan Al Thour. Cardamom & saffron are widely used in local cooking. Gors Egeli is a mini-cake and Lisan Al Thour is a biscuit, both are richly flavored with cardamom & saffron.
.
Our order consisted of cool treats only: the below ranking is based on our preference.
The Rose ice cream was smooth and creamy. This was truly delightful. The rose flavor was very refreshing.
The Karak tea ice cream was cooling with strong cardamom flavor. It was soft like cotton.
The Milk cake was nice. It was not too sweet. It was surely moist and tasty.
The Rasmalai was average. It was not authentic. It tasted like cake immersed in cold saffron milk.
