Is OK with issues. I got a cheaper rate than hotel sites were offering by booking a month ahead and booking direct with hotel.
Breakfast buffet was good.
Even though it was a non-smoking room there were cigarette butts stubbed out on window sill - had to asked for them to be removed.
Room a moderate size.
Even though it was winter, weather was warm by my standards. Afternoon sun comes directly into room. A/C just blows HOT air - when I complained to reception they said it was hot because it is winter. Yet in public areas of hotel A/C was cooling. Thus with no A/C I had windows open to try to cool room - even though on 7th floor - LOT of street noise till 2, 3 even 4 in the morn. Back rooms are probably quieter.
There is Jug and Cups for Tea/Coffee - also Microwave and Twin Hotplate BUT nothing to use in/on these ???
Only significant positive is nearby restaurant Socrates - Excellent (I went there 3 times while in Beirut) - only 3 - 5 mins walk away - ask staff. There are quiet a few other eating options nearby.

Room Tip: Rooms at back a possibly quieter if you need to have windows open

My teenage son and I were travelling together and for the last 4 nights of our Lebanon trip, we stayed at Gems Hotel. We arrived around 8 am and were expecting to leave our luggage there until the 2pm checkin time. To our pleasant surprise, we were advised that a room was ready and that we could have it straight away. Not only that, we were upgraded from a standard room to a suite. The rooms are nicely decorated and very comfortable. Two TVs in the suite and a large bottle of water provided each day. Location is great - ATMs + currency exchange, a supermarket (Coops) and a few traditional Lebanese restaurants, all just a couple of minutes down the road. We found a great restaurant called Ka3kaya a 3 minute walk away, traditional Lebanese food, well priced and great service, which is great as many of the restaurants on Hamra street (one street over) tend to be American type fare and rather pricey for what they offer. The American University of Beirut is also a 5-7 minute walk away and worth a visit as it is beautiful and also has a great little archaeological museum. Would definitely stay here again.

We were staying with my friend at the hotel for one night and it was amazing! Two bottles of water and fruit were "waiting" for us unexpectedly on the table in the kitchen. The chamber had two single beds, two TVs with 70 channels, a bedroom and a dining room. Also the shower is wonderful with lots of towels and shampoos if you don't have it with you. Everything is perfect.

Very well located near Hamra and Rouche with a lot of small bars and shops nearby. Very nice people working there both reception and restaurant. Stayed there twice and made me feel almost at home. Rooms are clean, the Internet is working ok. Only the food is average considering that Lebanese cuisine is one of the best in the world. On the other hand you can eat in Zattar w Zeit or any other of many small diners or restaurants around. I will go back there.

4 star hotel, centrally located, 2 minutes walking from El Hamra street and round 10 minutes walking to Lebanon Kornich, in the middle between Zatouna Bay and Roucha famous rock. Rooms are average, with no view but surrounding buildings.
Breakfast was Okay.. Front office team needs better orientation to handle customers.
Brilliant guest relation Nour is a big plus to the place.
