Been in this hotel for a week. It was $30 for double room occupancy and $25 for single (same room). Room was clean, with tv and ac unit (both quite new and with remote) There is no restaurant in the hotel, you can have some hot and soft drinks in recepcion. Couple of food stalls and restaurants are near by. Hotel staff is very fine. Hotel is located in coastal area of Hamra (half of the hotel has sea view rooms, see attached image). Excelent budget hotel, will go again.

This is a good hotel for someone budget conscious - backpacker or not. It is an excellent location. The people running the hotel are very nice and friendly. You will meet people there from all over - Japan, other Arab countries, etc. Probably not too many from the USA because most of them will be steered to more expensive hotels, like the one just down the street, where I stayed last year, for about 5 times the price per day. You can have breakfast cooked up for you for $3, a decent meal, eggs or cheese with olives and other veggies. The only draw back to the hotel is it is not very 'well appointed'. That is, if you are looking for something where the furniture is really nice and there are all kinds of (costly) amenities which you may never use, you will not like this hotel. Also, it is a little 'seedy' meaning that while it is not dirty it may kind of look like it is, because the interior is very basic and somethings probably could use an update. But if you are not worried about how your room looks, you have hot water, A/C (which you are asked to turn off when you are gone), and a safe environment. Some rooms may have baths, but mine only had a shower, with no curtain (there is a floor drain). The shower worked fine, a little chugging in the AM for the water to get there but it was always there. All rooms have a toilet and shower attached , not down the end of the hall (as I read somewhere). Also, if you are big on toilet paper, you may need to ask to have a new roll (I recommend Americans like myself bring those wipes you can buy; for anywhere in the Middle East really, as a back up). There are no refrigerators or anything like that in the rooms. This is strictly basic hotel in terms of amenties..But you are a half ablock from the Corniche, in as good a location as many 5 star hotels, and within easy walking distance of Hamra. YOu are also not far from the renovated downtown area. It is a very good location. And as I said the people running it are very nice and friendly, not an aloof environment. Also, payment is in cash, not by credit card. So I highly recommend the hotel for the budget conscious. I wish I could give it a higher rating overall on the review scale, but that might be misleading to some, esp. from the US or Europe.
