Having stayed at the Hilton Hotel in Doha for a considerable length of time I can reaffirm that the employees continue to be extremely helpful, especially Noemi the maid and the staff within the restaurant. The food is of a good standard with a large choice available throughout the week. They have Seafood night twice a week on Thu and Fri evenings so if this is your thing then you will be in heaven, however on these nights other choices are extremely limited so choose your days wisely if you don't like fish. The gym has a good selection of CV equipment and a smaller weight lifting room with mainly Isolation Machines, DB's and KB's. Outside there is a large pool and access to a private beach which is very pleasant. During certain times of the year the outside evening activities can be noisy.

The Hilton Doha misses the mark of a five star hotel for many reasons.

Most importantly, our room was substandard due to a lack of cleanliness and upkeep. The couch and bed skirt were filthy with stains; the cabinets were broken; the furniture was dated and worn out; there were fingerprints and grime throughout the hotel.

The staff members were very kind and responded to our requests.

However, it was obvious that the hotel needs better management and many improvements to warrant a five star rating and price.

We paid $106 for our 'deluxe' room and left feeling like this was an extremely poor value.

We will not return.

I selected the Hilton as it’s one of only 2 or 3 hotels within reasonable reach of the city with access to a beach. It markets itself as a family orientated resort hotel with private beach and large pool. It additionally offers an indoor pool, gym, spa, water sports, and even a dive shop. Typical of the newer modern hotels in Doha the hotel is finished to a very high standard though aside from the beach doesn’t stand out as particularly unique in terms of service or facilities.

The entrance is grand, spacious, very modern and clean and boasts a very expensive Starbucks café (expect to pay around double the price of other Starbucks in Doha). Service was very prompt and typical of a hotel of this class. Our standard room was again modern, very clean and of a high standard, with a king size bed, desk, coffee table and sofa. Having stayed at many Hiltons this was certainly one of the best though again it did feel rather run of the mill.

We booked a room with breakfasts included hoping that it would be of typical Hilton standards and were not disappointed – there was a wide selection catering to most tastes and the quality was extremely good. For anyone not planning to have breakfast at the hotel there are very few options nearby. Sadly the hotel is quite far from the old town and the nearest restaurants or cafes are in a shopping mall around a 20 minute walk away. Getting to the old town or any of the major sites would require a taxi or Uber ride. A jogging map in the gym shows that the distance to the old town is around 7km.

The gym facilities are good though not exceptional. Split across two small rooms you have a free weight room with limited floor space and a cardio room with running machines and cycles. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to use the spa as only women may enter in the mornings and men in the afternoons and sadly this didn’t fit my schedule.

The pool area though is excellent and despite the size of the hotel never felt crowded. There were plenty of sun loungers and parasols and the atmosphere very relaxing.

Overall while this hotel didn’t stand out as exceptional in any particular way it did tick all of the right boxes. I would certainly consider staying here again were I looking for a high quality relaxing yet run of the mill experience.

Once again as a long term resident here I have once again been amazed by Noemi who regularly cleans my room. I requested a few small additional items and once again she has gone above and beyond.

If this member of housekeeping stops cleaning my room, I'm moving floors. Haha

To the Hilton management please pass on.

Room Tip: Room on the reception side of the building
