Upon entering the impressive restaurant, you immediately feel that the staff is expecting you. You are greeted by the maître and escorted to your table. The menu is handed to you swiftly and explained. You are offered some bread, butters and amuses to go with a glass of champagne or another aperitif of your choice.
There’s a lot of attention to detail: the cutlery by Christoffle is luxurious and tableware is in delicate china. The atmosphere is one of grandness and refined elegance. This is reflected throughout the evening. Our waiters Mr. Robert and Mr. Thushaj were friendly, attentive and provided us with discrete service.
We went for dinner on 2 occasions during our stay at Shangri-La Qaryat al Beri: on Bastille Day - with a degustation set menu with grape pairing – and on our National holiday 21st July. Then we had a chef’s table giving us an up-close view of the kitchen and the goings on behind the scenes. We had given the chef, Jimmy de Almeida carte blanche for that special celebration. What he served us that evening was simply amazing and a real feast.
The cuisine chef Jimmy de Almeida and his team prepare is one with fresh French ingredients. These add to the pure, naturel tastes of the dishes. At the same time being a real treat for the palate. The presentation is done with respect for the produce. The quality of the food reaches a very high standard because of this freshness. You feel and taste the realness of this modern French cuisine.
On both evenings, we went for grape pairing and – although the sommelier was not there – the maître Antoine Phillip did a fantastic job and was able to provide the details we wanted to know about the selected wines.
Bord’eau is definitely a fine dining restaurant we will keep going back to.
