My wife and I were fortunate enough to have stayed at Hotel Westfalenhaus earlier this week. One of the highlights of staying at this hotel is Restaurant Piroschka which specializes in cuisine from all parts of Europe including German, Russian and Mediterranean. It is delightful little restaurant with both an indoor dining room and a patio for outdoor dining. During our brief stay at Westfalenhaus, we enjoyed lunch and an evening snack at this restaurant.
Although it may take a little extra time for your meal to arrive, it is definitely worth the wait. Each meal is prepared with lots of tender loving care. I dined on a generous portion of paprika Gulasch for lunch. The side dish of Spaetzle complemented the savory taste of the Gulasch. My wife also shared a portion of her pork ribs, and the ribs were tender and tasty... it was obvious the TLC provided by the chef paid off. A variety of freshly baked bread and rolls accompanied our meal. For an evening snack, I dined on a large bowl of Erbsensuppe (pea soup) which was accompanied by a small frankfurter and freshly baked bread.
Prices at Piroschka are reasonable for a hotel restaurant. Lunch and the evening snacks set us back the equivalent of $51 US. First class service appears to be the norm at Piroschka. The restaurant is open to the public, so when looking for dining options in Asuncion, this restaurant would be an excellent choice.
