The sea food buffet is held on Thursday, Friday & Saturday evenings. The restaurant is ground floor close to the pool and has a pleasant aspect. The buffet was very well presented and included meats for the true carnivores. There was an abundance of seafood and chefs shucking oysters for those who wanted them. Good selection of salads and some first class patisseries. Certainly worth a visit.

This is the main eating area for Le Méridien resort. We were staying here as SPG members with the kids passes.
We chose to pay for breakfast here and thought it was good value. Considering that most food is imported into New Caledonia I think the selection offered was great. It’s standard buffet - egg station, pancakes, bacon sausages, tomatoes, breads, pastries, fruit, cereals, cheese. All yummy. We found all staff to be friendly, helpful and courteous. They appreciate a friendly hello or bonjour. It is true not all staff speak English but as even my young children explain this is a French speaking country! If something ran out, we just had to ask and it was replenished.
We also had dinner here - very relaxed, standard food, lots of families and kids. Again, great value with the SPG kids pass. Nothing wrong with the 10+ mains we had during our stay. Service not always fast but always with a smile. Comparable prices to eating out in Anse Vata area.
Didn’t try the seafood buffet nights though. Half the family aren’t big seafood eaters so didn’t suit us. Enjoyed room service dinners using Le Sextants usual menu. Great too.

As we stayed at Le Meridien we ate at Le Sextant every day for breakfast and dined there twice.

The ambience is certainly not romantic for dinner dining. It is ok for buffet breakfast with smaller ables close by and not so private for couples wanting to have a chat and enjoy a leisurely dinner meal. Hard not to hear the conversations of others. Didn't really notice any effort in changing up the table dressing / decor from breakfast to dinner.

The food at the seafood buffet served on Friday and Saturday night was good and we were happy with the food choices available. Lovely oysters, snails, prawns, sashimi etc.. and a couple of hot meals. The food was plentiful and desserts were nice. Not so sure if it was worth the $7900 cfp (around $100 AUD)? but hey, this is Noumea, everything here is expensive and we really enjoyed the food.

Hmm.. the service.. is so / so. A definite shortage of of English speaking staff, combined with a general lack of enthusiasm and almost arrogance at breakfast and dinner was very noticeable. Not the super friendly service we have experienced on other Pacific island holidays.

The breakfast buffet was good, not really worth the cost if it is not part of your package deal at Le Meridien. The bread station is stocked with beautiful fresh baguette and had gluten free bread rolls. The usual array of bacon, eggs, fish (very dry), hot tomatoes, sautéed mushrooms, cereals, pastries, cakes, cold meats, yoghurt, etc.. are available. A nice little surprise is the lovely range of cheese. Soy milk is available for vegans. The range of fruit is a little boring with grapefruit, orange and watermelon featuring heavily and a few bits if kiwi fruit, grapes, a tiny amount of paw paw and a little pineapple on occasions. The fruit was not replenished much in the last hour or so of service.

The Sextant is the breakfast dining area and a buffet. Sadly, I was disappointed with the food. It just was not up to standard. The staff were good and the chef cooking fresh eggs was very good. I guess this could have been because of the low number of guests but I am surmising this.
