“Nothing to see”

Aung San Suu Kyi House
Reviewed 2 April 2018

Knowing of the importance, history and fame of Aung San Suu Kyi i was looking forward to see the place where she was held for so many years.
Very big disappointment: we saw nothing but a closed gate, that's it. Pure loss of time.

This had been built up by our tour guide as a must do, so off we set in 34c on a busy dusty road, only to see a big gate
Oh well, at least we saw where history was made, or near it anyway!

Having been told that we would be able to see Aung San Suu Kyi's house from the roadside, all we actually saw was a very high fence, a steel gate and a security guard.

Don't waste your time.

The park is lovely but all you see is the gate as illustrated in this picture, and she no longer lives there.

Aung San Suu Kyi House is a historical site, where Aung San Suu Kyi was house-arrested. You can however just see the entrance gate and cannot get inside. Security guards were watching. So, I didn't take a picture. Anyway, in my opinion it is not very interesting.
