Just recently I decided to take a trip to Egypt. I started researching small hotels in Cairo center, near to everything and came upon the Hotel Grand Royal. It had very favorable reviews….but as always some reviews were less than flattering! I booked the hotel for two weeks. I was very impressed when Madeline, the assistant manager, called me to find out if I needed transportation from the airport…very thoughtful! The hotel is located on the 6th floor of a building on Talaat Harb Square. The street entrance was rather dingy ……however entering the hotel from the elevator I was surprised to find a charming lobby with a friendly and helpful receptionist (Omar).
My room, facing the square was simple, but very clean. The bathroom - spotless. Breakfast was simple but plentiful, with unlimited refills of coffee or tea! Since I had requested the room overlooking the noisy square I came prepared with earplugs. No problem sleeping…Cairo is a noisy city!!! The owner Hussein and Madeline were very accommodating during my stay. They made arrangements for me in the city as well as with my cruise and trip from Luxor to Aswan to Abu Simbel. I was extremely pleased with my stay and will definitely return to and recommend the Grand Royal. Hussein, Madeline, Omar, Ahmed and the staff were like family…Hugs and thanks to all…
